Things learned at the Rally

I learned the Charlie (8.1al) is a great shackle upgrade partner. We got his job done in 3 hours. He added another hour by lubing the new shackle bolts and adjusting his brakes.

I learned that all the bushings associated with the shackles and spring eyes have a life time of 15,000 miles because they are the nylon, non-lubricating bushings. So everyone is subject to having a shackle problem sooner or later even if your unit has the new Mor/ryde suspension like I do on my new Monty. This information came to me directly from a Mor/ryde representative.

I learned that Mor/ryde already has a heavy duty upgrade kit from Dexter ready in anticipation of your need for shackle upgrade or repair. For inquiring minds, the package is named "Wet bolt Upgrade Kit Tandem Axles", Part #LRE12-001. Ordered from Mor/ryde, the price is $109.99 + tax and shipping. If you keep your rig, you will need it by and by.

I own no part of Dexter or Mor/ryde and have no financial interest related to this information. My only interest is raising the level of awareness of my fellow RVers and help keep us all safe and rolling.
