Welcome to the Forum IU Fan!

I would absolutely go to 2 batteries. You should have enough room. For 12V batteries, Connect a new cable between the two (+) posts, and another new cable between the two (-) posts (referred to as a parallel connection), just like you would hook up jumper cables. The rest of your Monty hookups remain where they are.
