Sewer smell

Howdy
We have a smelly problem. When we flush the toilet, we get a bad smell of sewer, as if we are smelling the inside of the black tank. We never had this issue in the past, just the last two times we used the 2011 3400RL.
I have flushed and rinsed with garden hose through the toilet itself and added Oder eating tabs to the tank, but doesn't help. I was told that it if the vent pipe was plugged, the toilet wouldn't operate properly.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

The toilet in your house may not operate properly if the vent is blocked. RV toilets are completely different as they don't have a water trap when you flush. I would still check the vent pipe for the black tank.

The vent needs to be clear and open. Every time you flush there is a certain volume of water goes into the black tank. And an equal volume of air gets pushed out. Normally that would go out the vent. But if the vent is blocked, the only place it can go is back up the toilet.

It is also possible your vent pipe has become disconnected from the black tank letting odors into the belly of your trailer. Or even possibly the tank itself is cracked and leaking.
