Grill for the RV

We are new and stocking our RV for a trip. What grill do you guys recommend? We want a sturdy one that will last. There are three of us so it needs to have some room. We want one that is charcoal and one that is gas. We appreciate your expert guidance please!

With space being at a premium I have a tabletop type rectangular charcoal grill (Char-Broil). Leg fold over the top and hold the top on when not in use. Have used it to cook steaks for 4 men at the deer camp, so it can cook quite a bit of food.

For propane, I can't say. I have one that I do not particularly like. And can't remember the name right now. But Weber always get good reviews. And they are not overly large either.

We have a Coleman Roadtrip which we have used extensively in the past. The problem we had with it was it seemed to extinguish itself at the most inopportune times when we were in windy conditions. We now carry a Charbroil Grill to Go which we prefer and seems to hold the flame in windy conditions (Myrtle Beach, etc.). It has a stand which has a set of wheels to allow for easy transport. I prefer stand alone grills rather than the tabletop models, but as with anything, there are many choices, many preferences and each must make their own decision. Just providing input as to what we use and why.

For gas we have a Quisinart table top model with hood, legs fold, and we use both the disposal and refillable propane containers, it is great for burgers, steaks, and everything else.
For charcoal we have a similar sized small table top model with hood, and it is excellent for steaks etc. as we particularly enjoy to taste to charbroiled. Hope you fun cooking outdoors next to you RV, we do.

We use the Weber Q 1200 and at first we did not like the Flame Output so I "JIMMY RIGGED IT" and drilled all the holes a little bigger now we LOVE IT and we also have a long hose so we can run it off the main RV tank as you can see in my pic

Weber Q200 propane with stand. Side tables fold in, stand folds up by itself, lots of grill space for 3. If you purchase the correct brass T hardware and long hose, you can use the trailer propane - no need for a third tank.

I have a stainless steel one I got from Lowes for about $80. It uses the one pound bottles. Cabelas sells them for about twice as much as Lowes. It is a nice well built table top grill.

Coleman Roadtrip for us. Have not had trouble with the wind, but it's a newer model so maybe that makes a difference.

I have a Weber Q2200 which I have removed the fold out table tops, they just seemed to get in my way all the time.

Don't use anything but propane anymore, although I do miss the taste from the old one. Sometimes I drop some smoker chips in our home propane one for a bit of smoke flavor.

We use the portable tabletop Cuisinart propane grill listed here: http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CGG-.../dp/B001TOWLTO We do have the cover and while in transit store it in truck bed in front of the hitch. This is the one that Dea wanted so this is the one we have. It's actually a great little grill. Tim

We now use a Webber Smokey Joe table top. It's a miniature model of our big kettle at home. Quit using gas at both places, as the food just was not the same. Charcoal all the way now!

Little SmokeyJoe, which you can find on sale for under $25.00 sometimes. Then we went to a Weber tabletop electric (Q2400 I think). The Weber electric was kind of pricey but it is probably the best electric grill we have ever found.

We used a Roadtrip grill for years but it was really bigger and heavier than we wanted. This is what we went to and like so far.

We use the Weber Q, but on long trips we also bring with us the Weber 18.5'' Smokey Mountain Cooker Charcoal Smoker. We love to smoke our meals when there is plenty of room between RVs. We have a Weber Summit and a Bradley smoker at our home. We smoke our own cheese, beef sticks, jerky, and most of our main meals, especially holiday meals.
