Demco hitch
I bought a new Ford short bed.I know about the pullrite superglide hitch.I would like to know if anyone has had any experience with the
Demco slider.I like the idea of towing any 5th wheel without the
capture plate. Thanks KJ
I know I am going to get a lot of ribbing for going to the
dark side buying a Ford.

Can't help you there, but can tell you that the capture plate isn't a big deal unless you're going to be pull a lot of other 5th wheels. It bolts on and off so it's really not a big deal.

Where is the adapter plate used? I believe it's on the RV, right? If anything additional is needed this means you probably won't be able to help someone else in the event you might have to unless you go through some extra work. I have helped friends and relatives move their rigs when their tow vehicle was unavailable and an emergency arose (truck in the shop, injury, etc.)
It also worked the opposite as well. I broke my collarbone some months ago, and my brother-in-law moved my rig as a favor even though I had a long bed. He was more comfortable using his short bed truck and we were able to hitch up without removal of anything. Then another brother-in-law used his long bed to move me back out.

I have a short bed Ford Super Duty with a Demco 18K Hijacker Autoslide. Very good hitch and great customer support. Once you get the hitch dialed in very little if any chucking. The hitch has wrap around jaws and a bar that goes across the back of the jaws and prevents them from accidentally opening. One drawback is this hitch is heavy at 250 lbs.
I would recommend this hitch.

If your trailer is a newer one with the rounded front you don't need a slider with a Ford. A B&W Companion I can get just a few degrees shy of 90*

I'm looking at this hitch also. Has anyone used it with a GMC 2500 6'5" bed. We have the Montana 3791RD. Just got our RV in and getting ready for our first trip in the new one. I have the Curt Q24 right now. But this new trailer has a lot shorter pinbox on it than our old Cameo.

I have one on a 2015 Ford F350 with the Ford Prep. Four cams and I am all in. the hitch works great. I also have a Demo pin box and it works much better than the one installed on the trailer. I did have to move the pin box up by one bolt and it's flawless. Rides very nice. One key is to keep it greased up well and clean. I would not buy another one and the Demco folks are fantastic for technical support. This is a 10 out of a 10 hitch.

Thanks jstadler. I just ordered the 18,000k Demco autoslider. Everything I have read about this hitch is positive. Got it from E-trailer for 1360.00 no tax and free shipping and included the catch plates for the Rota-flex pin box. I just didn't want to take a chance of our new 3791RD coming through the back window of the truck. We camp in some pretty tight spots.

Nice if you have trouble hitching be sure the pin box is coming in level. You will know if you have to try many times to hitch. I had this problem, moved the pin box up one bolt thus lowering the pin box making it level when it hits the head. Works great!

I'll remember that Jstadler. Thanks. E-trailer said I would have it in 7-10 days. Just in time for our shakedown cruise.

Congratulations, I also found DEMCO to be very helpful on the phone. They are very committed to their customers.

Ordered my Demco 18k auto-slide from E-trailer one week ago today. Received it Monday. Pulled my 3791RD yesterday! I think I am going to like it just fine. E-trailer was GREAT! Maiden voyage coming up in 2 weeks. Maybe then I can get some sunshine and photos.

Hey Joe, sounds like you are getting that new rig all lined up and ready to go. Hope your first adventure is totally trouble free. Where are you going on your maiden voyage?
We still don't have a delivery date on our new 3120RL but I did go back to the factory for a second tour yesterday. They had the entire production floor packed with my floor plans. They even had several with the legacy package and one with the full body paint.

Pat? Yeppers. Just about got everything set up the way I wanted it. We are going to the Eagle Festival at Reelfoot Lake in West Tennessee. Found out the other day that my integrated brake controller in my truck will not operate the new disk brakes. Had to order a P3 brake controller. Others will work ok but Dexter recommended the P3. It will be in Friday. Hopefully I can get photos soon. Suppose to rain all day tomorrow. Man, I am reay for some SUN!
