Mail forwarding

Not happy with the USPS mail forwarding service. Any better choices for full timers. We just need mail service not a resident address.

We have been using the Escapees service out of Livingston Tx. for the last two years with zero problems. Great people to work with. Any changes only require an email.

Dakota Post (previously Alternative Services) provides excellent service.

Mail Forwarding

I'm using a service called Traveling Mailbox. It's $15 a month plus fee to forward. I receive an email with the outside of the envelope scanned when the mail arrives. I can choose to have it forwarded, held, or open and scanned. I only have magazines forwarded. Just knowing immediately what's in my mailbox has been helpful. You can also choose, shred and delete on the junk mail.

We've been using Americas Mailbox in Box Elder, SD for almost five years and have had zero problems. Great people to work with, and they even take care of our vehicle registration renewals. We even have the service where they toss out the junk mail.

We use the UPS Store as our home address and mail forwarding service.

We use the Good Sam/PassPort America Service in Crestview, Florida. Have had no problems with them either.

We are still in the process of collecting information on what service to use. Unlike the original poster we will need a permanent Florida address. It looks like from what I have read the Good Sams mail forwarding service provides all of that on the premium plan for around $16.00 a month?

south dakota is another state that has mail services, so if you aren't going to actually be in Florida you may want to look at this state too.

Question? You can establish a permanent address in SD and NOT be/live in SD?

As you see lots of options. we use http://www.mydakotaaddress.com/ up in south dakota. has been working great for years.
and for donc1212, YES you can establish permanent resident status there is you like. call terri if you have questions. and you don't have to become a resident either....

Deciding on a mail forwarding service has been a process, almost worse than picking a health insurance carrier.

Researched as much as I could plus PM and emailed a couple folks on this forum for additional advise. We ended up being somewhat limited due to needing a real Florida address but we still had about 4 to pick from.

Since we are planning on wintering 5 months in the same general area of SW Florida each year we are going with one of the local UPS Stores in Cape Coral. PackerFan gave some advise and a good review on his experiences with them. What finally made us decide on them was the fact that for the 5 winter months we can simply stop in and pick up our mail whenever we want to for no extra forwarding cost, whereas the other services in Florida we would have to be forwarding 12 months out of the year.

Thanks for all the advise. VernMitchell, didn't want to hijack your original thread. Did you pick another service besides the USPS?

We have used the Escapees Mail Service since 1993. 24 years or so.
