Where's that remote?

I've been having trouble with my backup camera (God knows blondes need backup cameras!) and found the original box and paperwork the other day so I could go through the owner's manual. The Monty's previous owner had installed it, and I'd never bothered to look in it before, since the camera was working.

Darned thing has a remote control!

Cool. But wait...

After a moment's thought, I decided it would take me longer to find a tiny remote control in the cavernous center armrest storage thingy in my Silverado than it would to lean over and turn the camera on. Maybe I could use it when standing on the step rails and using the Silverado's remote back-up feature. Or maybe for warming up the camera when I'm walking to the truck.

Maybe not. Add this to the list of things I can leave at home.

Remotes and how they're applied to everything are getting way out of hand. I'm not blond but I sure do feel like I'm one sometimes (just guessing since I've never been one). But at least you blondes have more fun, so they say.

I'm glad to hear there is a switch on the camera that overrides the remote. That works for me unlike the other posts about the scare/flood lights that must be operated by the remote. Did you see those? Talk about a convenience gone bad.

Not to highjack my own thread...

But speaking of conveniences gone bad, I have an elderly (used-ta be blonde) friend who bought a portable radio that has a built-in and unfortunately automatic "sleep feature" that CANNOT be turned off. Every time I'm at her house and she has the radio on, it shuts itself off after 60 minutes and she fusses for a while about her dead batteries because she's forgotten what causes the radio to turn off.
