2017 F350 DRW

Will be taking delivery of our new 2017 F350 Lariat DRW soon. looking forward to seeing/feeling the difference in the handling of our Montana.

Going from a SRW short-bed to a DRW long bed will be nice I think.
The truck is going to be in Caribou/Brown color to match the RV

The truck also has trailer camera/ TPMS built in.

Will post pics when we do the first hookup.

Nick truck but I love your picture. Reminds me of camping on the Cowden Plantation in SC. We used to camp at an old farm house and hog hunt.

Good luck with the truck! I think you'll love it!

Post a review after you have had a chance to get to know it.

Congrats on the new Tow Rig! You are going to be really impressed with the dual rear wheels! I will never tow with a SRW again. Be sure to post some pics when you can.

You should see a lot of difference going from 400 hp to 440 hp and 800 torque to 925 torque. Going with the long-bed you might want to get an in bed fuel tank. I had a short bed srw and went to the drw and love it. These Montana's are just to heavy and don't give you a large enough margin on a 3/4 ton and are marginal on the srw 1 ton. Great Choice.

I think the 2017 long bed comes standard with a 48 gallon tank.

Talk about the potential of a night and day difference, from a Short bed SRW to a long bed dually behemoth? You gotta repost after your trip to tell us how you'll plan on being able to stop grinning over this change!

And a camera and TPMS to boot. You are gonna go through sensory overload!

You are correct. It does have the 48 gal. tank but another 60 gal. wouldn't hurt. I have a total of 94 gal. in my ram and it allows me to drive all day without having to use truckstops.I fill up in the evenings after unhooking from rv and i can usually find diesel much cheaper than the truckstops.

Thanks for the reply’s everyone. It was this forum that got me thinking hard about SRW vs DRW.

The timing is never right to buy a new truck…BUT,…the truck is $72k, which is an insane amount of money for a truck IMHO. However, we were offered $32500 for trade in (low miles/FSH), $1000 off from ford and 2.79 APR for 72mon from USAA, and we put down $4k, and so this will be the truck that takes us every which way across America.

@ MLH
The photo is where we are building our home (no GC). We are restoring that old Millers House and extending a little out the back. There are plenty of deer, turkeys and fish in the creek. The occasional bear making its way to the Tar River. I am told there are wild hogs, but have yet to see any signs of them.

@ Kenneth
Yes I am looking into transfer tanks at the moment, would like to be able to tote 94gal.

Truck Build:
6.7 F350 Lariat Crew Cab, DRW w/8ft bed
Chrome pkg, Ultimate pkg, Quad-beam LED lights, 5th/goose prep pkg, Spray-in bed liner.

I've got a 60 gal. tank and it doesn't take up much room. You will enjoy all the new features on the Ford.

This is just MHO but for a few dollars more you can get the King Ranch.
My last Ford was a 2008 F250 lariat and it was a very nice truck. When I bought the 2015 I went for the King Ranch. Much better seats(older butt needs a better seat)heated/AC seats, remote start
nav system, and much more all stranded. Once you get to $72,000.00 you mite as well go a bit more and decide to keep the truck forever. Again JMHO but you may want to look into the King Ranch???

Nothing quite like a new truck. Hope you have nothing but good luck and happy miles ahead of you. Congratulations!

If you have never driven a long bed dually before, give yourself extra room for turns and drive-thrus. Until you readjust your spatial awareness, rear tires and curbs will become intimate with each other. Also consider where you park. That truck will stick out of almost any parking spot you find.

Trust me.

i would like to know about the hitch....it is my understanding that yo can't use your old hitch without special accommodations because of the alumimun body.

The aluminum can't touch the steel. Lots of cars and trucks have had aluminum hoods for years. The Range Rovers and some of the Audis are all aluminum.
