Port Aransas TX ferry clearance

We were on one of the big ferries at Port Aransas today and I happened to look up and notice the clearance dimension on the gantry...13’-6”. I have not measured the Monte hooked up to our Chevy dually. I told DW when we leave we will be going back thru Corpus same way we came in. I have taken many past RVs on the ferries no problem. Of course the smaller ferries (with the center conning tower) would not be a problem - nothing but blue sky above you...but during busy times like this weekend, apparently they are only running the big ferries.

Anybody out there ever tried to get on one of these with a Montana?

The 2019 Monty brochure says 13'5". I'm not sure if that is measured "leveled" on a concrete pad.
I measured mine hooked up to my F350 DRW. It settles a bit when hitched. 13'4" to the top of the AC unit.

I first time I noticed the sign was when I was getting on the ferry and it was too late to turn around. Once on, the Montana was directly under the sign and still had plenty of room between the pilot house and 5th wheel. I was pulling a 356BH HC at the time. The specs on the 356BH also stated 13'6". I've seen plenty of large 5th wheels on the ferry without any problem. And the ferry workers are very familiar with loading and unloading large 5th wheels.

My 2015 3100 rl is listed at 13'5" and when I measured it hooked up it was 13' 4" and my rig appears to tow pretty level. I'm sure when the mfg. measures a unit it is level. If you have larger tires, a lift kit, or adjustable suspension you could easily increase the front height an inch or more, consequently if towing with a low rider, highly unlikely, you could increase the rear height. Everyone should get an accurate measurement of their trailer while hooked up to their tow vechicle before they hit the road. An easy way to do this is to park under an awning that allows you to get on top of your trailer and still easily reach the bottom of the awning. Measure from the bottom of the awning to the trailers highest point, usually the front AC and then from the bottom of the awning to the ground, now just do the math this method eliminates the risk of not having your board parallel to the ground when using the 2X4 on top of the AC method. Unless your truck sits higher than stock, you're pretty much safe to go under anything a semi will, as unless built for special services they are all 13'6" or less.

I've made that crossing a number of times with our Monty. No problem. 18 wheelers use them regularly without issue.
