RV parks in Black Hills SD

Hi all i’m Looking for a recommendation for a RV park in the black Hills. Looking to spend a week or so in the fall and have a good home base to explore the area. Thank in advance for any suggestions. Dan

We are headed back out there in June of this year. We always stay at Elkhorn Ridge RV resort just outside of Spearfish and just about 8 miles down the hill to Deadwood. Not cheap. But sites are all paved and well separated. Large pools and several hot tubs. Location is great.

I was looking for something central and found Holy SMoke RV park. It is small and doesn't even have a shower/toilet building. But it is central. Full hookups and wifi that is so so. Rated 6 of 10. Gravel pull thru sites.

We booked 4 days at Steel Wheel C.G. in Deadwood. Enjoyed it so much we extended for 2 more days. So much to see. They have a store, restaurant & bar, gas pumps and casino. Close to town but out of the traffic.

We are booked at the Elk Creek campground in Piedmont, SD. We aren't getting there until September, but found many places are already booked up.

Dan we plan on doing some boondocking in that area sometime after the Coos Bay Rally.

Rushmore Shadows Resort in Rapid City worked for us.

Been several years since we stayed there but Spearfish City Park was the best kept secret in the Black Hills. Very reasonably priced. Only problem is not all sites will accommodate larger rigs.

We are going up in September this fall as well. We plan to stay at the Heartland RV Park located just off Highway 79 about 15-20 miles south of Rapid City. It is 100% pull through and they can handle any size rig. It's not the cheapest, but it is located close to Mt. Rushmore and has absolutely all hook-ups including cable TV.

Black Hills

We stayed at the KOA Palmer Gulch. Our Kids loved it and we thought it was a great place at the time (August 1994...seems like yesterday!). We were in a Coleman pop-up.
