States visited maps

This may seem silly but, on a states visited map do most of you mark the states you have visited reguardless of how or do you only mark the states that you have pulled your camper thru?

This is one of those things you can do any way that you want. You get to make the rules

A lot of people only mark the states they have actually camped in. I mark all the states we have actually set foot in. We have actually camped in most, but not all of the ones I marked.

Like the others said, you make your own rules!

We (DW actually - she decided the rules for the map) follow the camp overnight rule for our map. She also adds the great lakes only when we actually went into the lake (not with the trailer LOL). She also split the lower and upper peninsula of Michigan into two stops but that is because she's from the UP and they still consider themselves separate (and superior) to the LP

Everyone is different and has different rules. We do not consider sleeping in a state as visited if you only stop for one night along your travels. for us to color the map in, we have to spend a day or more actually visiting the state, so I only count the states I Booked for vacation. when we travel, we usually drive till around 7 at night and leave around 9 in the morning until we hit our destination. aprox. 10hrs on the road and around 600miles a day. Things will be different once I retire.

They also have maps at Camping World. We are like mjammersc and only do states we've camped in! I wish we did it the other way because we did a big trip last year through the souther U S but never camped in Oklahoma! Now we have a big hole in our map! 18 states, all around but not Oklahoma! Guess we'll have to make a special trip and stay a night!

You can either buy a real one which you can put on your camper or you can get a virtual one like what people use for their signature. Just Google states visited map.

I bought a piece of 1/8" plexiglass and mounted the map then screwed it to the inside of the door with small decorative screws. When we upgraded 5rs I moved the map to the new unit.

I keep two in my travel binder. One just for states we have camped in, the other has the same plus states we have driven through with the RV.

Your RV, your rules

We use ours as a reminder that we have stayed at least one night in a particular state, usually more. We hope to add 3-4 more to our map this year.

Our map is located and stuck on the inside of the entry door.
