Propane detector beep

I have a 2005 Mountaineer. The propane detector is located on the outside wall at the base of the refrigerator. It beeps about every minute. It is very loud and only beeps once. The test button works fine. It is very irritating. Has anyone else had this about it and he said my battery was probably just low. This is not the problem. Help me if you can. SPRING IS COMING!

Mine will beep when the battery is low. Can't think of any other reason except a propane leak of defective detector.

We had problems with ours. I called MTI and they suggested the battery was low. After testing it (12v battery) I got a RA from them and sent it back. They supposedly tested it and sent it back to me. Same problem continued. I sent it back again and they replaced it and it has worked fine since. One thing I did do in all this is to put a toggle switch inline so when I have the gas disconnected in the winter, this doesn't need be on and draw on the battery. Below is the exchange I had with MTI if this helps.

Ours did the same there is no battery to our propane detector it is hard wired. It does run of 12-volt as well but through the converter. Our would even go off if my wife used her hair spray, was so annoying we disconnected it and use one bought from store that is better type detector.

Ours hasn't been a problem in the Monty, but the last 5'er we had the detector would go wild if we stood just outside the door and spray yourself down with bug repellent. I was told by the dealer that they go bad after 4-5 years. Something to think about if it's an older unit.

My last RV had the propane detector wired into to the same cabinet where the 12 volt battery was stored. It was poorly vented to the outside. When the camper was plugged in and the battery was fully charged, it would cause the detector to beep. When I was not plugged in, it was fine. The two batteries I have in the Montana are vented so well and are up in the front compartment so there is no way the detector could get the battery vent gasses and I'm pretty sure your Mountaineer is the same, just wanted to give my experience with this.

Also be careful that you do not have a slow leak in your fridge sytem .

Ours was doing the same when when my 12 volt coach battery was low.It is one of the things that will discharge your battery in storage if you have not disconnected the battery. If I remeber on my 2955 it is the last 12 volt fuse on the right I just pull it to shut it off
