3400RL Price??? - Montana Owners Club

OK guys and gals, it’s finally time… yes we are going to the RV show this coming week, after 5 years of looking and research, and we are going to try to purchase a 3400RL. This forum has been so much help in the past and hope you guys will come through again. I called today and the dealer is listing the 3400RL at $50,995, fully loaded. Our best friends and us are going to the show together and will be offering the dealer a sale for two identical units. What would you think a good price would be? We feel that we should be able to get two units for around $45,000 each? What do you think? We don’t have any problem walking out together if the price is not a real good deal. We all know that sales are down, the price of fuel is up, and it’s a new year of sales that they want to get off to a good start. So what advice do you have for us?

That price sounds like a already dealer discounted price for a "fully Loaded"3400. I am not up to date on the MSVRP but guess that a " fully Loaded 3400" would MSVRP for @ 58 to 60K. so 42 to 44K would be "reasonable" ooops.note that you are way up In Washington State a long way from Ind...Look for transport charges of @ 1500.00...You will I am sure get some better more up to date numbers from others.

This is only my opinion, I would think that $45,000 for a fully loaded 3400RL is a pretty fair price. If the two of you are going in at the same time, I would start around $42,000 and work from there. If you want to go as high as $50,000 I would swing over to the new Big Sky 340RLQ. Please keep us updated on the deal...

PS~ If you dont make a deal over in the Seattle, let me know. There is a great dealership over here in Spokane that I am sure would love to have a crack at your business. I have bought 2 Montana's from them along with a few MOC members. Let me know and I can give you the name of the Sales Manager and a salesman.

I will second Rich and Dave's pricing. $45K = GOOD. $42 = GREAT. I also 2nd Dave's suggestion on the Big Sky. I would sure check that out (if you can find one) before plunking down the money.

my fully loaded 3400rl (delivered in october) was less that 45.. that includes fiberglass and dual pane windows, gen prep, everything...delivered to texas was 1500. that was included...

You have to define what a dealer says is fully loaded. Does that include gel coat. 2nd air, generator, toppers, washer/dryer, fantasic fans and dual pane windows. A fully loaded unit like this will have a list price of just over 70K.

Our 3500rl was purchased in Apr 2006. It has the following as extras. 2nd a/c, fireplace, max air vent covers, fantastic fan, gel coat, vaccum, slide tray in basement, dual pane windows, w/d prepper,( dont want one), all the usual stuff. Alum wheels, no slide toppers, new nose cap, has the wooden french doors, gen prepped, and it cost less than 40,000 cash, no trade, no taxes. The msrp was over 60G

I miss stated the transport cost to the West Coast. While we were at our dealership having our W/D installed he was arranging to have a Motorhome transported to L.A. The transport Companies wanted 1.50 per mile..that would have been close to 4K$. Some dealers would attempt to recover the entire cost as they pay for the transport. One way or the other the consumer will pay. That is one reason RV's cost much more on the West coast.. Our dealer, @ 175 miles from the factory charged $250.00 transport and that was included in the price.And yes what is fully loaded..45K can be a very good price in your area if indeed it is "fully loaded" and considering the higher transport cost. Some dealers will NOT state the transport cost and include it in the "price" I would ask what the dealer is charging you for transport . That will give you a better idea of what "the camper" is costing you and don't forget the "transport charge" is very negotiable.(I would still be looking at @42K for the unit you describe.

Thanks guys for all the info. I love this forum. The dealer we are going to be working with is known for only offering units with most if not all the options already on them. The rig I was asking about had everything but slide toppers, vent covers, dual pane windows, and the 2nd AC in the bedroom. Thanks Rich for the info on the transportation charge, we will make sure to find out where or if that is being added and how much it is. Again thanks to you all for the info on the price you paid, as you know it helps so much when you go in and start the negotiations process to know where to start.

We bought our 3400 RL (2007 model) in August for $50k with every option except gel coat and fireplace. We shopped hard, so $50K sounds fair to me.

I bought my new 2006 3400RL in Sept this year. It listed for $68k and I paid 47K. I have everything except double pane windows and 2nd air. no washer/dryer. Considering the cost for shipping to Alaska, I think (re: HOPE) I did well. Plus the dealer is storing it for the winter (Free). I would imagine 45 is a great price for a '07.

The prices quoted does not mention whether there was a trade in or a cash deal,makes a big difference in price.

We paid a tad over $46,000.00 for ours in Washington. That was with just about every option ~ less the Alum. Rims.

I hope your looking at Tacoma RV. Thats where I will go next time.

pparamore..That is not bad at all..@31% off the 68K MSVRP..The 68K is high to me but I will bet @ 4K of that was transport cost.

Phil..No wonder the MSVRP was 68K..and no wonder Rv's cost way more on the west coast.You know for 5200.00 one would have to consider purchasing one in Indiana and driving it back to the west coast.Our Transport cost in Clyde , Ohio about 175 miles from Goshen was 295.00. Anyhow you still got the 30% off MSVRP which was a good deal. Enjoy the Rv experience.

I paid $42k for my 2007 3475RL. It has a fireplace, built in vacuum, prepped for rear A/C and W/D. It has the Moving To Montana Package...Customer Convenience Group...Value Package...Outside Shower, Aluminum Wheels. It has all the Interior Options. On the Equipment Options...I don't have the generator or second A/C. Everything else it has. I purchased mine at the 2006 RV show at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered me such a nice offer early on, without my having to deal with that dreaded feeling of being in a war. They installed slide out covers for me at a reasonable price, and included a 5th wheel cover at no extra charge. It helped that another RV dealership found out I was going someplace else and tried to "steal" me away at the last minute...:-) On a side note...I spoke with my rep there today, and they will be selling the new Big Sky 5er's when the go on the market. Oops...didn't see that last post regarding trade in's etc. There were additional costs added on after we negotiated the new trailer due to my negative equity with my old trailer. They asked what I expected to get from the old one....I told them, and they gave me another $500.00 on top of my asking price. I paid cash for the 5er, so I lose out on being able to claim it on my income tax...:-( But, for once in my life I can say that my home is paid for...LOL
