Electric Slide systems on 2018 Montanas

Hi,

On the MHC's the electric slide system Is a BAL cable system.
looking at a 2018 Montana, they have a "track' a the bottom that I am assuming is where the drive gear runs it in and out. Anyone have information on it?

Thanks

It's a Schwintek system. Lots of video on You Tube.

Just talked to the Norco (parent of BAL) while they were replacing our motor and gear box on our '16 SOB. Seems that had a couple of years, like maybe '16 & '17, of bad gear boxes, but might depend on how quick Keystone put parts in.

We'v had Bal cable slides on are SOB and now are Montana and (knock on wood) have never had a problem! I carry spare parts just in case that day comes. I have done repairs for others that have had problems not hard to fix and adj at all.

The BAL Service Manual in the "Files" section ( http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...?do=file&id=19 ) has directions for manually moving the slides when the motor is INOP.

If the gearbox breaks then you have a different problem. If only a couple of teeth have failed, you might be able to push the slide (with the aid of a couple of people) while someone runs the switch.

A total gearbox failure (which seems to be what is most common with the recalled gearboxes) requires a different approach. I read this somewhere but I am darned if I can find the source. So use it at your own risk. As I recall, loosen the cables and disconnect the chain drives from the gearbox. Now you and some help should be able to push the slide in or out. You want to reattach the chain drive and tighten the cables after moving it so the slide doesn't wander.

Carl is 100% correct on how to move the slides in the case of a gear box failure. you will need lots of help if its a big slide. make sure you keep square in the hole when you push in or out to do the repair. Not hard to do if you have the service manual from the file section. Done them on some other units.
