I have seen rubber roof contractors wipe down the repair area with gas on a clean rag to clean it. they say it dryes real fast and will not hurt the roof. don't know for sure but I have done it before on another rv that I owned. JMHO

Eternabond actually makes a cleaner and a product to aid in it sticking. This is surely not the only place to find it, but here they are: http://www.eternabond.com/RV-Leak-Re...ducts-s/22.htm

Thanks bob I went to the web sight and they say use acetone which i did not know. I did that, it appears to have a better stick but i will let it sit ver nite. I try it on plastic it sticks good. If it does not stick im use my dicor caulk. Disappointed at thsi point

I have had good luck using rubbing alcohol. Never had a repair deteriorate. Love that stuff, it is better than the original roof material.

Are you sure you did not get a bad batch of Eternabond. If you look cross eyed at that stuff it sticks. It would have to be extremely chalky for it to not stick at least initially. On my last trailer I just washed the roof and stuck it down and it was still stuck good when I sold it. I have never heard of this problem that's why I ask...

In our 12 years full timing, we have used Eternabond so much that I feel almost like a professional when it comes to using it. I have said over and over that rubbing alcohol and/or acetone are probably the best products to use when it comes to cleaning the area to which you want to stick the Eternabond. There is definitely no problem with the Eternabond sticking IF you clean the area well and let it dry (that's why you clean it with a quick-drying product) before sticking the tape down. CAUTION: Be sure you put the tape down where you want it on the first try -- you don't get a second chance. Because once you stick it down, it's stuck!

Thats good gives me confidence, i guess i was expecting the stick to more agressive. I did try it on other that rubber roof and it is more agressive sticking. I check it and it appears to be sticking good enough that it will hold as described.
I will post pictures here and have an idea for the next guy rather than cutting

The link is a series of pics of the repair. getting to stick is the key thanks for advice i used Acetone. In the pics you will see what i believe was a factory defect that someone found the metal had ripped andf they repaired it with two stapples. I found that they do used screws. I covered my screws with duct tape and used my wifes dough roller to finish.
If i had to do it again or some else does i would make small incesions the size of my screw head to secure the metal with screws rather than a long cut get screws in. Than i would repair small pea size hole
