slide out pump leak
I'm sure this has been a problem for some. I have seen this in the past but can't find it. My pump has been leaking since day one. I did have it fixed,[ they said ] but it still leaks. I'm hoping someone that is going to Kerriville,Tx. can tell me how to replace the O- Ring? Thank You Jack

What part of the pump is leaking? If they replaced the O-ring before it might be the pump assembly is not machined flat or has been warped when being assembled at factory. If it is still under waranty, I would see if they will replace the pump,You said it has been leaking from day 1, have you documented that fact at your dealer?

Is the pump leaking externally or internally?
This can make quite a difference to trouble shooting hydraulic pump problems.

I have read others with leaks it appears to me to be the O-ring, when my dealer fixed them they said it was the hoses. They went on to say they rerouted some of them and tighten all of them. Now I don't know for sure what they did but before I took it to them I attempted to tighten the hoses and couldn't, they were already tight. It appears the oil is coming from between the reservoir and pump. There should be an O-ring between the two? sorry I wasn't more clear on the 1st Post. Thanks Jack

jordjd (JD) had a leak from his pump in his new 09 Monty and he cured the problem by tightening up the four screws that holds the pump to the tank. They just needed snugging up a little more. His pump and tank for his 09 were mounted vertical vs the horizontal mounted pump and tank in our 08.
JD might be able to comment more on this subject.

Many times the Service Techs will just tighten the body of the pump to the body of the tank and hope that will eliminate a dismantle to replace the o-ring. You may demand that the o-ring be replaced and ensure that the mating surfaces are clean and smooth. Nothing more annoying than an oil leak over time! Hope you can get it solved.

Jack, may I suggest you look up MIMF in the member list and either PM or email him? Dale used to work at Lippert, the people who build those pumps. He's very helpful in troubleshooting problems. I think maybe he could help you with this.
We also have a small leak somewhere but not in the pump. We had a hose replaced under the bed when I found a leak there. We're still slowly losing fluid but I haven't found it yet.

I had to have all the hydraulic hoses in my rig replaced. They all leaked mostly at the fittings. My pump was replaced under Lippert warranty. The rest of the hoses under extended warranty. Make sure it is the pump and call Lippert. They should warranty the pump leak.

It is a sad thing that a bean counter determined that a pump/O ring? reservoir was the best way to go. A pump and a low pressure hose and a remote mounted tank would have saved a lot of people grief. Ours has been O ringed for the third time and so far is still holding from the last repair. If it leaks again I will just pour oil into it. A quart of ATF a year is a lot cheaper than the repair.

Jack, my unit started leaking and I thought it was the o ring but it was not. The leak was coming from around one of the 4 gate valves and running down the tank making it look like the o ring was leaking. I tighten up the nut on the valve stem and that fixed the problem.

Good luck!!! The oil is pretty clear and thus can be hard to see where it is actually leaking from. There is dye available to look for leaks, but some requires use of a black light ( yeah, 60's flash back time!). Use of a mirror will help see the back side where you can't get you head into.

The oil in mine is ATF and there is no problem finding it all over the battery covers and the street side landing pad.

There's no problesm finding the oil because it get over everything. The problem is finding where the heck it's leaking from!

ATF is colored. Shouldn't be any problem seeing where the leak is coming from. When our rig was barely one year old we saw a puddle of ATF under our big slide. When the technician dropped the underbelly, he found that a "tee" connector had ruptured. No problem seeing where the leak was.

ATF is indeed dyed red but usually the leaks at the pump are so small that the oil doesn't run out, it seeps and spreads out so it's hard to pin point it's origin.
