FL Keys
We head to FL next week and would like to end up for a month in Key West. We will try to stay on the Navy base but they don't take res. and are often busy this time of year.
Does anyone have an alternativ cg in that area thye liked and we might be able to get into?

Bring lot of money for the private campgrounds. I stayed at a place right over the 7 mile bridge (can't remember its name) and it was
$70 - $80 a night. Campground was nice but space are very close to each other. Suggest you stay above Florida City and drive to the keys if you want some beach time or to do some fishing or sight seeing.

My parents use to winter on Sugar Loaf Key, just up from Key West. It was very expensive, over $1,000.00/mo.
Just called Dad. It was the KOA on Sugar Loaf Key and the rate there now is $3,000.00/mo.

Just for the fun of it, I checked the nightly rates at the Comfort Inn on Roosevelt Blvd in Key West during February. Minimum is $200.00 per night for a basic room and goes up from there. This is why the people who actually live and work there will tell you that very few visitors come to Key West for prolonged stays. A day or two for most then back to the reality of South Florida where the in-season prices are only obscene!!

Bill there are some "no name" motels in Key West that are cheaper than that and in February. We stayed in a real nice one several years ago. Nothing fancy but clean. We didn't spend much time in the room. Love Key West!!!
Happy trails.........................
