Denise,

First, welcome to the forum!

It's not clear if you are buying new or used. Either way take your time looking it over to make sure everything works and you understand it. Search PDI (pre delivery inspection) and you can find a checklist or two. Recommend not signing or paying until you are happy with it. Some dealers will let you camp onsite for a night or two before you take it. You generally get better service if they have to fix something before the sale then after the sale.

Welcome aboard! If you’re new to the game then there is a lot to absorb so don’t be in a hurry. Take your time with a thorough PDI. Pay attention to the tires that are on it. You’ll want a tire with a good reputation (there are more tires with bad reputations than good ones. Many here have learned that the hard way)

Please let us know exactly what you’re buying so the help can be more specific. Also, please make sure you start out with an adequate tow vehicle with enough payload for the loaded pin weight. Don’t let any sales person confuse you with tow ratings. Payload ratings will be the “gotcha”.

We’re all here to help and learn so jump right in…there are no dumb questions. It won’t be long before you’re out enjoying your new purchase!

Enjoy the Montana, we've had ours for years and really enjoy the open road in it.

Congrats,
I purchased a new Montana a year ago. The trailer has needed a bunch of warranty work. They had to repair two slides, replace living room and bedroom flooring (torn by slideout movement), and they had to replace the wet bolts. Oh yea, they had to replace four day/night shades. They had the unit for about 10 days total. Inconvenient given we live in it.

Many wetbolts would not take grease and some had worn out bushings. Yea, they wore out in 1 yr/3k miles. Wet bolts are a common issue with all manufactures. The holes in the wet bolts tend to clog.

I've suggestions
1) Buy and use slideout sleds. (search for "slideout sled" on Amazon). My service manager suggested them.

2) If you have wet bolts don't assume that the factory lubed them. They may have not been lubed. Mine destroyed bushings must faster than I would think possible. The bushings I saw were dry. Lube every 3k miles.

3) Never ever operate a slideout unless the trailer is very level and floors swept.

4) If you have auto level, learn how to re-zero. Mine failed with an error and I had some trouble finding out how to do this. My phone service was poor.

The first time I retracted a living room slideout it ruined the floor. We hadn't even left the lot. I was blamed for this for they said that I hadn't swept prior to bringing in the slideout.

The dealer blamed me for torn flooring until it was discovered that two slideouts had problems. Flooring tried falling out of one and the other left the rollers and had to be reattached to the slideout.

Also, they are still trying to blame me for not greasing the wetbolts. I figured the brand new trailer would have had this done by the factory or dealer.
