Airstreams Everywhere
We went camping last weekend at one of our favorite nearby escapes. This was the maiden voyage for our new Monty. By Friday evening we were surrounded by Airstreams. Apparently a gathering of a local club. Very nice folks and a lot of shiny trailers.
The Monty performed great!

No surprise they would have clubs and rallys, as we know at least one other brand does that.
I like the looks of them, but not sure I would want one. Especially for the price.

My complaint with an Airstream is that for me at 6'4" is too tight quarters since there is limited headroom and no slides. They sure do impress me though otherwise and if they made a 5er for sure would at least look at one.

Why are all the trailers in an almost barren field when all those trees are right across the street?

That's just the layout of the park. They are nice pads with water and electric. This is only one of 2 camp areas. The other is on the other side of the trees.

A lot of money for those shiny little suckers and NO storage. We looked at a 27’ with queen bed for a mere $97,000 I could not believe how expensive but they are pretty cool for the amount of space with no slides. Nothing beats the space we have in our 2018 Montana 3121RL including basement storage I am not sure there is anything with as much storage other than a Montana 3791RD bc it has the rear sliding tray with the storage

I wonder about Airstream quality now that Thor owns them> It alwys seems to me that once a good company is suckedd into a monster, the only thing that counts is the bottom line - and shortcuts are often made to keep the profit percentage as high as possible.

UM, Mr Thompson and Mr Orthwein (TH-OR) Saved Airstream from destruction by Airstream’s then owner Beatrice Foods. Think: AMF owning Harley Davidson. That was in 1980. Up until 3 months ago I have owned Airstreams my whole adult life (bought my 1st one on my 21st BD, my next BD is #60). They are produced and managed independently. I have personally worked with Airstream and have been at the factory many times. The one I just sold, a 2009 DW and I had been living in will not be our last. We love our new 3791 RD for the space and amazing storage as we full time permanently but there is no equal to structure and workmanship vs. Airstream, and again, the ‘09 Flying Cloud we just sold will not be our last...my 2 cents.

It is a very specific product for a very specific buyer, all that can be said bc there is no way I can justify that much money on a small trailer with no storage, and very little interior space. It is not that I think they are crap bc that is not the case, just $ for $ I wouldn’t spend $100K on a 25-27 foot trailer. I also think they have fewer problems bc they OT have slides. They look great but a good polish in that trailer can run someone $2500 or more so there is a lot of maintenance if you own one to keep it shiny and keep rocks from destroying the front. I know a few folks that have them. I am a big fan of their Tommy Bahama Line they are really nice...

I agree. Airstreams are kind of the Harleys of the RV world. They have a certain classic look and feel to them. Very iconic. But like Wicked says, although I like them, $ for $, I personally can't justify spending what they cost.
We would move up to a higher end fifth wheel I think instead.

I had a 27 ft 1969 Airstream Overlander for 22 years. We towed it to just about every state east of the Rockies (including the Rockies) and created so many great shared stories for us and our kids. When I sold it, I told the buyer, with proper care and routine maintenance she could expect her new 50 year old trailer to be in as good shape in 10 years as a new sob bought today. I meant it, as that was my experience.
So .. we replaced it with a new Montana 3120. Really? Yes! With the 3 slides and tall ceilings, separate bed room, etc. we love the room, ease of set-up and great tow-ability with our 1 ton Silverado. Absolutely love it!
I probably would have bought another Airstream if I was in the market for a 20 yr old trailer to use for the next 30 years. I wanted the space and wanted to enjoy it "out of the box".

Dave I think you nailed it!!
They bought Airstream to make money. How do you make money, cut cost.
