$22,000 Extended Warranty!

Yes that’s right. I cancelled the extended warranties that Crapping World “helped” me buy (I know, I had to participate in the purchase too!). But, by canceling the $7200 (all of them added) I save that $7200+ the $7200 that pays down my loan + over $7000 in interest on the loan! 😲
That was for a 4 year warranty, so now I am self-insured. Course I can’t really travel for 3+ years, til I retire! So I think will work out fine. Especially the $1100 tire warranty which will buy my new tires when I do hit the road! Live and learn.

I believe there are plenty of lower cost extended warranty options available - generally the selling dealer is not the best place to buy. Rolling it into your financing may not be the best move either.

Not trying to critique you but trying to keep others from taking a similar path.

Good job on correcting it!

7200 warranty...is a crime. There are several good extended warranties out there take a look at Cornerstone extended warranty for starters.

I would have told CW to go pound sand. $7200 in warranties??! Did not quite understand the 22K in the title. I would scrap the $1100 tire warranty as well if that was the cost rather than the coverage amount.

Did you do your homework? I have a 7 year, extended warranty with a $50.00 dollar deductible for under $3500.00.

I had never bought an extended warranty until I bought a gently used 2012 F350 3 1/2 years ago with only 4,300 miles on it (Ford program truck). I will NEVER buy another extended warranty on anything. The authentic Ford ESP warranty was declined 2 times in less than the past year saying "oh, that part is not covered" in relation to emissions parts. The repairs cost me more than the "warranty" did!

I'm currently in the market for an extended warranty; who did you buy this policy from?

That's especially interesting since a Good Sam extended warranty bought thru Good Sam is costing me $500 per year.

That sounds about what I am being quoted. $3300 for 6 years.

I bought a very clean, gently used 2014 Montana 3402rl and since it is my full time home it was easy to convince me to have “Extended Warranty Protection” “should anything go wrong”! But Yowza! $5600 for. Basic extended warranty, $1100 for tire/wheel service warranty and travel assist. But you can see that it was a “BOHICA” (bend over here it comes again!) moment! So yes, I did a big re-think and saved better than $22000 over the long term. the only Warranty I have now is on the new Dodge RAM and that very expensive Diesel engine! I would absolutely NOT buy any Warranty from camping World. Although they didn’t bat an eye when I went to cancel, I guess they are used to it! Live and learn

My Good Sam service contract is $529.00 per year. I was just worried about the ACs, frig, and the 6 point level system.

Good Sam is what will put on my rig this spring before we start our cross country trip. Haven't had an extended warranty the past few years because we haven't taken anything but real short trips and it has set the whole winter. About the same quote of +500 with $500 deductible.

From those that have used Good Sam, have they honored their warranty well? Have others used a different source they would recommend based on price and service?

I generally don't buy an extended warranty but want to weigh the option.

In response to AZ Traveler question about Good Sam honoring their warranty..... we have had it since we purchased the unit in 2012 and NO they do not! We have had them tell me that something was not covered and then after I fixed it they said it would and yet would not reimburse me. We had the factory (Montana) service rep on the phone with the people that determine what will be paid for and he stated that they would pay for the item and yet when it came time to cut the check they denied it. We are looking now and do NOT want to return to Good Sam.

I had the same experience at our dealer. Total for the 3 was $6,954. Cancelled all but the $645 Roadside Assistance from Coach Net for 5 years. Paid down loan but it took 3 months for the refund to go through. It was a total sham but my wonderful Joy would not leave the dealer without the ESC.

Agree with all this non-sense on over charges! My warranty was 7 years for over $4000, and just cancelled it. I'm still recreational at this point, and still have factory on the unit, so I've stayed at an Air Force base (a couple weeks) and did a shake down on the unit. Went in for some minor things already, but I'm pretty handy, so I agree with just dumping the extended stuff. I'll fix it myself when the time comes!

Just picked up a 2018 381th, camping world wanted 75$ a month for platinum plan??? At 12 years that would cost 10,800$, 18,000$ for 20 years. I told them NO, my insurance covers tires, towing & replacement if needed. They tried real hard before I almost walked out. I have progressive RV & it covers alot, had a blowout last year ripped off part of skirt & some siding. They paid a very fair price & I was able to fix myself, even paid for tire.

If I am not mistaking Good Sams offers an exclusionary warranty, meaning if it is not listed it is not covered.

I just purchased a 6 year inclusion policy from Wholesale Warranties, with a $100. deductible for $3,650. Unless something is specifically excluded, it is included. They pay the repair shop directly, and more importantly do so by electronic transfer, no waiting for the "check is in the mail".
