New Marker light upgrade

Hey guys, Thought I would share. Here are a few pictures of an upgrade I completed to day to my new 3731.

These Marker lights are used in different applications but I know them from my real job in the Fire Department. These marker lights are common on new fire apparatus to identify the rear of a vehicle or trailer.

They are made by a European company named Britax. They are on a flexible stalk and work awesome to identify the very rear on your unit at night. Works great when paying attention to rear swing of your trailer.

Check the picture through the side view mirror to see in action.

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

How many inches do they stick out from the side of the trailer?

The lights stands about 6.5" out from the outside edge of the slide room.

You said a flexible stalk, will they bend out of the way if you hit something with it?

Yes they are forgiving and bend. The black part is all rubber.

If these stick out 6.5 '' from trailer then wouldn't this put you at 9' or more in overall width. The maximum in most if not all states is 8.5 feet. Like the idea but it would have to be legal for me to install.

They remind me of the old turn signal semaphores.

Here is the link.

Britax also makes many different versions of this type of light. Some that are much lower profile.

enjoy..

Like some others I was concerned about snagging something with these till you mentioned they were rubber. Not a bad idea....

I setup our camper in the dark for only the second time this weekend. A guy tried to help me by standing in the site with his flashlight and even shining his truck lights on the pad. But with no good reference to tell where the rear of my trailer was that was all but useless. What finally did help is I set an LED work light on the pad where I wanted to line up to (a target if you will). After that it was a breeze to back in (except for his headlights blinding me LOL). These lights you have installed would have helped for sure.

And oh yeah, the wife says ARRRGGGGHHHHH something else for you to buy for the 5er LOL.......

They work awesome if you do much trailering at night to help define the rear of your trailer. I am always paying attention to trailer swing and these lights help with that. There are like 4 different versions, some that take up much less space but the flexible stalk is forgiving. Now that being said the lenses will break of you smack something hard. lol.
