5er tires

OK - been wanting to do Sailun tires - seems in Texas it is hard to do without ordering from Simpletire - found one shop that would order and install. Tried talking to Sailun ... they have very limited distribution. Wondering why? Seems most posts are split between GY and S - who uses other brands, size, load rating, etc?

Thoughts on do the spare also just in case there is an issue, have a matching tire to install.

I ordered from simpletire free shipping and 20 bucks each to install included balancing. Did not do the spare more trouble than it's worth IMO.

At the price of 614's, it's simply not practical to get a 5th tire. I use the trusty old Marathon and hope I never need it. I think the distribution issue with Sailuns is mainly due to their relative newness to the market.

Ok - middle of first trip on New Sailun tired. If nothing else Piece of Mind - Worth it. It does sit taller and rolls easier. Money well spent

RMHC,
Keep us posted. We are going to have to buy 6 new tires for our HC fairly soon. I don't mind risking the factory tires for short hops but when we start our trip from Arkansas to upstate NY well........

I purchased 5 GY's tires in April from Simple tire and had a great experience! They even told me the manufacture production dates before purchase-no one else would. (60 days old THANK YOU!)You stated that you want to change to GY or Sailun, therefore, you are stating that any other brand is less desirable. My advise is to change the spare and move on to something more important. Please also remember that tires will "age out" even when not being used.

Best time to buy from Simple tire is in November. They have 10% off and free shipping which can save you quite a bit. I priced 4 tires in November and they were 545.00 delivered. I didn't need any tires then but next November i hope they have the same sale as i will be needing 4 tires then. My tires are nearly 4 years old and have about 17,000 miles on them. They have taken out 2 of my factory wheels and haven't missed a beat.

I know tires age and the original Marathons from New Zealand on my boat trailer went ~6 years in the sun b4 showing cracking in sidewall. New Marathons were from China. Did not last as long. Just put new Maxxis on. Our new 5r has Sailun and from what I've read, they are highly rated. On a flip side our 2001 Town Car had a set on Michalins put on in 2007. Kept garaged all life and tires look brand new on the sidewall. Go figure. From the reviews I've read, Sailuns look like the way to go even if have to get them mailed to ya. If you want long warranty, contact Coach-Net.

Finished the trip and took to dealer for warranty work - LOVE the Sailun tires. Rolls better, less side sway form sidewall flex.

We have the G614's on the 13 Big Sky. They are are wearing very well. We are watching the input on the Sailuns we feel that have not been around long enough for a accurate testing.
