Works Like A Charm
When we go away with friends, we normally use the sofa air bed. Our friends take the bedroom as they like to sleep in longer than we do. When we first started to use the sofa bed, the first thing we noticed was that the air bed was longer than the sofa was folded out. We woke up in the morning with our pillows and heads sunk down in the hole behind the sofa. Solution, make a collapsible support. We all know these Monty's need lots of mods. (Just like any other). I used a 48 X 18" piece of 1/4" thick plywood, some furring strips, couple blocks of 2 X 4, couple hinges and a handle. Store it behind the sofa when not in use and fold it out for use when needed. Pics below:

Weighs only about 5 pounds and well worth the effort to build.
Thought I would post this in case anyone else uses their sofa bed often and had the same problem we had. I'm sure others have come up with their own solutions but this works for us.

Very nice and very creative. You could market those.

We NEED this!!! We have two airbed couches, and will be using both when the daughter and her girls come with! Putting it on the DH's to-do list since he is retired and I have 29 more days til I achieve that status! Wonder if he could get two done before Memorial Day! :-) Just showed him the pictures - is it attached to the wall, or does it stay put with the mattress on top of it?

Nope, just free stands behind the sofa when not in use and stays put with the mattress on top of it.
If you notice in the photo, I used the felt side of Velcro tape on the back to protect the wall from damage. So far, so good.

Just a thought but if you blow your air mattress , we have a brand new air mattress , never used with pump as we put in a lazy boy sofa so the mattress is in FL on the shelf and is for sale but what is it worth? I would have to look it up and take 1/3 off and its yours; sailer
