5th Wheel Skirt

Can anyone shed some light on the pros or cons of getting a 5th wheel skirt installed?

My CON would be getting the snaps screwed in to my NEW coach.
It may not be a big deal, but I didnt know if in the future I would regret doing it.

My PRO would be the added private storage and a added wind breaker/insulator from the cold wind.

Another CON would be making a nice safe comfy home for a varment.

Any and all advice is welcome.

We have the front skirt on our Monty and really like it. Fortunately, we bought our unit used, so we didn't have the terrible deed of screwing anything into the nose. We also put up an add-a-room. Love that, great space for chairs, table, and other things. Steve stores tools and all kinds things under the skirt.

The front nose cap skirts seem to work very well. I have seen many 5th wheels that have them. The side skirting is what I would be aware of. As you stated, mice and "other" varments sure like to live in there all winter. They usually start out there anyway, then work their way into your coach from there.

Good to hear you and Steve find it useful, Camping World has it on sale til the 17th of Oct. I'm pretty sure I will get it and have it installed when the coach comes in.

My advise would be to use turn buckles instead of snaps. In colder weather, the snaps are hard to remove and stick. Just my 2 cents worth

Hey Army Guy,

Do you have a choice when purchasing the skirt on which type fastener to get?

James,
The skirt I'm getting is not from CW but from a guy who makes skirts and covers. He makes custom sizes and colors. I'm going to be getting the whole rig skirted since I'm living in it here in Kansas. It does help keep the rig warm and it does tend to get a little cold here. Here is the website of the guy who does these if interested: www.rvskirting.com
