Problem with converter. Any ideas?
Need any advice I can get! When plugged into shore power the lights dim and brighten every minute or so. We can hear the convertor running and the lights brighten. Sound stops and lights dim.

Maybe a weak battery and or a loose ground? If you have a multi meter start checking. Look at and check grounding wires. Good luck and let us know what you discover. Dennis

Ditto what Dennis said. I would put my bet on the battery, but could be both

How old is the Unit? Converter may still be under warranty.

Try disconnecting the battery and see if the lights will work off the converter. If they do replace the battery.
The converter should run the lights without the battery.

I would say battery as well. I already had to add some water to mine and its only 6 months old.

Hi, I am new so I hope I am doing this right...
I would first put meter on battery and check the DC voltage for a little while and note the difference in voltage when light are normal and then when dim...
also I would then check the voltage with the meter in the A/C mode, yes the wiggly lines!!
if the converter is bad it will read a high reading of A/C volts when lights dim...
normal reading of DC volts when all is ok should be around 14.5 volts+/-
if battery is bad it would read a low 11.0 or less when not connected to shore power... after a good "charge"...
hope it helps any ??? let me know...
good luck!!!
Tony

We had problems. It turned out to be loose connections to the converter.

Our converter output normally runs about 13.3 volts DC. This is done to prevent cooking the battery when on AC for long periods of time. This voltage will not charge a depleted battery. Depending on the battery type it will take a around 14.1 volts to properly charge. I measured the battery voltage on our 2006 3400 while driving ( with a recording voltmeter) and found that the truck connection provided about 14.2 volts which is enough to charge the battery.
