Puck system concerns

Hey everyone, just got a new 2019 3500 Chevy with the Puck system in the bed and have a Hensley BD3 air ride hitch hooked to my 2018 305RL. am leaving on an extended trip and just a little apprehensive about the puck system. Can anyone share their expertise and possible concerns with this system. i am using the factory adapter from Hensley to accommodate the system. The 5th wheel loaded is about 12500lbs. any feed back is welcome

Thanks in advance
Denny

I have a curt q20 and I only had to to change the legs on the head to the puck system and i love it hands down compared to the bed rails and it seems to be more stable as the hitch no longer chucks on the rails.

Mine is a F350, but I think the puck system is better and more secure than the old rail system.

Mine is a 350 dually, also with an air ride hitch and puck system we have logged about 10000 or so miles without any issues at all!

Make sure the nuts on the end of teh "feet" that go into the pucks do not come loose. I had one come loose on Ford's OEM adapter.

I have a 3500 DRW with the puck system, though I don't have the Hensley, I have a B&W Companion and haul our 3700LK, and no issues with the puck system. No chucking or movement. It was easy to install the fifth wheel hitch as well compared to a non puck system

Puck system is top of the line, no worries. I lock the handles with keyed alike locks.

I have a B&W in a Ram 3500 DRW with the factory puck system. Very secure and never loosens up once you adjust the depth of the foot. I have mine very tight and haven’t had any issues at all.

I have a 2015 F350 running a Hensley BD3 (w/F350 adapter) and the Mor/Ryde pin box. The hitch is rock solid with no puck or adapter movement while towing. I run the bags at about 70% air. Rides like a dream with very little chucking.

I have a 2016 F350 with the factory puck system. I also have the factory Ford/Reese hitch. No adapter required. The hitch just locks in. Towed close to 20k miles with no problems.

2017 F350 w/factory puck system. B&W Companion slider, Mor/Ryde pin box. Everything locks down tight and no chucking. Plus the box is clear when I remove the hitch.

I'm pulling 19K plus with my Comfort Ride Hitch locked into the pucks on my '18 3500HD Dually High Country. Got just under 10K pulling with this truck.

Locking Puck Connection

Montana Man ... I'm curious which lock you're using. I found a combo lock that was small enough and had a long enough shaft (but short enough to get in place) to fit in the pin hole, but would prefer a keyed solution.

Beyond that ... I'd echo what others are saying. It seems very secure. We logged over 3000 miles in February without any concern.

Removal and install is easy giving you quick access to your entire truck bed when you need it without rails or other obstructions. But ... Easy in/out makes it an easy grab for a knowing thief. I'd prefer to deter them with lock(s).

I just picked up my new 2019 dually with the puck system and bought a B&W Companion to go with it. Anxiously awaiting spring to give it a try. It's good for me to see this feedback from the guys who have used the system already. For me, the pucks were one of the must-haves when truck shopping.

Got a B&W Companion with the Ford puck system and I love it. Only problem was this 72 year old lifting that 275# hitch. Made lift adaptor out of a 6" long 2" dia. pipe nipple. Put a cap on both ends with a large eye bolt in one end to connect to a lift cable and hoist in the barn. Just lock the pipe in the hitch like you would the king pin. fits perfectly. And all seems well balanced at that point.

Should have seen the look on the folks at the hardware store when I checked out. Visions of pipe bomb I guess.

These are what we are locking the 4 twist handles with on our B&W with, short and wide. They come in several colors.
