Just a note - pick up a Sailun and pick up the Westlake. My experience is the Sailun at least half again as heavy. I am guessing the steel casing is the reason, but I like em!

My trailers have been moderate weight - 5800 per axle, so I run Michliens. I usually get 40,000 or more - one year only 30,000 because of axle mis-aligned. So 10k or 20k is way too few miles. Totally agree with person 2 posts back that 40 or 50k should be expected from these heavier Sailuns.

milage?

OK - maybe a silly question, but how do you track the miles you put on your tires? Obviously I could jot down the start and end of each trip. But just curious if there are simpler ways since we are not full time "yet".

If you have a Ford, it tracks the trailer mileage automatically

I keep an Excel Spread Sheet with all of our travels, mileage to and length of stay. And being a spread sheet I can track total mileage we put on our Montana and the two SOBs, plus the number of days we've spent in the RV per year/total.

I am getting my first Montana and I see people mentioning about getting an alignment. When should I get my first alignment?

Welcome to the forum!

I believe many of us never align unless we see a problem.

I would do a computer alignment before taking custody of the trailer.

Should I just ask them before signing the paperwork? How long does it do?

28000 on my last Sailun tires when traded. Wear on edges but they would probably age out around 55k if I kept them.

I would go to a tire store to have it aligned, which I am not unless I have a problem.

If I had it all to over again, computerized alignment would have been a condition of purchase.
The alignment was so bad the alignment shop had to remove the axles to make the repairs. Keystone knew about the problem and refused to repair. I will never purchase another trailer of any kind without proving to me that it is properly aligned. After the alignment my fuel mileage jump about 1 mpg. But, each to his own.
Also, the dealership is the one that recommended checking the alignment.
