We paid 192 at a Flying J just north of Bakersfield, CA., a few days ago. Here in Hemet, CA., it is around $2.15.

We are in Scott Louisiana near Lafayette and the price ranges that are best are in the neighborhood of 1.85.9 and 1.89.9. When leaving Texas at the end of November, the price was near 2 dollar a gallon.

The price of diesel in Spokane, WA has finally starting to fall. I paid $2.14 a gallon at the pump today. Last week it was $2.25 - $2.37 a gallon. Now if we can only get back to $1.01 a gallon it was last summer.

Yesterday I paid $1.799 in Independence, MO, but unleaded regular at the same station is $1.569. Diesel used to be cheaper around here. What gives? And I know it's not the heating oil being used in the NE. They don't heat with oil around here and last winter diesel was cheaper than unleaded all winter. In fact, it always was cheaper than unleaded here until this past few months.

Dennis & Carol,
Thanks for the heads up on the Flying J in Post Falls. I will be heading there in the morning to fuel up again. That sure beats $2.15 around here. Thanks again.

When we left Okalahoma City area a week ago we were carrying 79 gallons purchased from Citgo station at Newalla at $1.67.9. going west to AZ raised the price about $.20.

News reports couple days ago said fuel price was dropping. Will check the Flying J on I-10 S. of Glendale and report in a day or so.

Dennis and Carol,
Thanks for the link. Now I have another added to the list of favorites. Looks like while the prices stay high over here I will be heading over to Post Falls for fuel until Spokane catches up with the price reductions. I am over on the south hill, and it is sure nice to meet fellow club members who are neighbors. I am sure I will see you on the roads this summer, are you going to the rv show in Jan? I will probably be there all weekend =) Thanks again,
Dave

I don't understand the Diesel pricing issue. In Frankfort, Illinois the local BP station has regular for $1.79 and diesel is $2.39. Two miles north at Shell off of rt 45 and I80 its $2.07. A little further down the I-state, its $1.97. Someone is trying to get rich quick I think.

RON, I totally agree. I live in Belleville, IL within a 10 mile radiud diesel is 2.29 . go outside that radius it's2.10 . Go another 10 miles its 1.97 . It doesn't make sense. It's so inconsistant in such a small area!

I also wonder why there has been no outcry from the trucking industry about diesel being higher than gas now. I understand that situation in some parts of the country, where they use heating oil in the winter, but in much of the country diesel was never more than gas. But it sure is now. And not just a little.

Feds tax diesel higher, most states do also, truckers are not complaining much because there is a lot of freight and they get the fuel sur-charge added to their rate

Mesa Az. Power Rd & Guadalupe - 2 miles South off Hwy 60 -
Today (12/29/04) paid $1.99.9 per gallon of diesel.
Have seen regular gas at $1.79.9 in this area.

Just filled up tonight in south St. Louis off interstate 255.Diesel was 179.9 . Just across the River in Illinois it 's 2.24. It used to be about .05 cheaper in MO than in IL. Now it's .45 cheaper! Regular unleaded is 1.65 in MO as apposed to 1.76 in IL. I don't understand the huge price differences on diesel in relatively close areas. I know where I will be going to fill up from now on. There were 3 other trucks with IL plates filling up at the same time I was.

Bakersfield, CA..on US 58, about 5 miles east of US 99, diesel is $1.98 at two different truck stops. US 99 and US 58 (major highways) prices are cheaper, in general, than downtown gas stations! I've seen diesel at 2.01 and 2.39 at two gas stations on opposite corners of the same street! Weird!!

Although I am sure that competition is a big factor, it is worth remembering that not all diesel is the same quality. The low sulphur diesel is more expensive than regular diesel. I worry a bit about diesel that is clearly priced lower than the going rate for diesel in the area. Yesterday I noticed that the Esso (Exxon) refinery near us, has a new construction project underway to build an "ultra low sulphur diesel" unit. I have seen Flying J trucks leaving that refinery heading east, so I assume they must be supplying the Flying J near Batavia NY.

The price here fell for a short while, but seems to be drifting up again. It was CDN$0.769/litre yesterday, that works out to about US$2.30/gal. (If I did the math right).
