More knowledge than I expected to receive

Last time I used the black tank flush in the convenience center, I noticed a leak dripping from the frame every time I turned it on. Since it started quickly, I turned it off. Yesterday I finally had the time to tear things apart and see what was the problem. After tearing apart the convenience center cover and storage area bulkhead, I was even more perplexed than ever. Seems the black water flush, along with 3 other water lines (1 hot, 1 cold, 1 unknown) also run up in the wall behind the shower wall. hmmmmm
Next, I go in and take the faucet off in the shower and start looking, or more like feeling, around. Ah HA! Seems there is a one way check valve of sorts on the wall behind the shower. Flush water goes in and out the other side, except in my case it goes in and out the vent top!

Anyone had to replace this check valve before? Any idea where to order it?

I'm getting ready to go out to our local Keystone dealer and try to explain to Gilligan what I am looking for fully expecting to see him scratch his head. Wish me luck!

They'll know, because it's a common problem. Low bidder valves. You have several choices. One is to replace it with a genuine OEM part. Two is to replace it with a good check valve, normally brass. Three is to eliminate it all together and go with a brass check valve on the outside. Three is what I did. I went to a hardware store and got a brass check valve of the type restaurants are required to use on their outdoor facets. I also got a small flexible connection that they sell to go between your hose and the faucet (usually has a spring around it to save the hose from crimping at the faucet). I use quick disconnects on all my water hoses so I put a quick connection on the end of the short spring hose to hook it into the black tank flush inlet then added the brass check valve then another quick connection and then I hook my hose to it.

Here is a link to a fairly current discussion on the black tank anti-siphon valve replacement.
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ms=check,valve

It appears the Search function has returned. Current (i.e. non-archived) postings have been "searchable" for a while. But Search was not working for Archived posts. Most postings prior to 1/1/2014 are Archived. That deficiency appears to be resolved as you can now find information from Archived posts. Here is one which details how members attack access to the anti-siphon valve in a 3400RL. There are many more postings if you look. Just remember to check the "Archived Posts" box.

A very common problem with Montana's. Before mine leaked, I cut an access door in my pantry wall to gain space enough to replace the valve. I replaced it with a Watts anti-siphon valve that I found at Surplus RV Parts in Goshen, IN. I think it was around $10.

We had the same thing happen to our 2010 3400RL. I found THIS one on Amazon and purchased it. Is an exact replacement. May be able to find one cheaper somewhere else. Tim

My husband, Charles, put an elbow in it. This solved the problem.

Mine started leaking just like yours, there was a stink bug stuck at the top so the valve didnt make a good seal when the water came on.
I just cut it out and put 2 shark bit elbows in.

I decided to replace the vacuum breaker with a quality brass one. Costly here in Alaska, but I shouldn't have any problems with it now. After reading about it here, I cut a hole in the kitchen cabinets that back up to the shower. After replacing the valve and adding new hose supports to the stud, I went to Lowe's and bought a piece of trim, cut and stained it, then velcro'd it into place. I might end up changing the velcro, but it is holding for now and looks pretty good if you ask me More knowledge learned on this great site!

I hope this works...the link is to the pics.
