Slight electrical burn smell?
My fuse panel is in the toilet room of my 3400RL. I just noticed a mild burning smell in there after the door has been closed for a while but when I took the covers off the fuse panels nothing appeared to feel hot. Any suggestions?

Pull it completely out and check that all connections on the back are properly tightened. Odds are you will find some loose and quite possibly evidence of it with charred ends. Check it immediately.

I would recommend insuring the trailer is unplugged from shore power and the battery is diconnected prior to doing the inspection.

Both of the above recommendations should be done ASAP. When I did it I found several loose connections.

Agree with above. After a year or so of purchase I checked all the screws for AC hot, neutral, ground, and 12 volts (+ & -) and found a number of screws not tight.

I definitely agree with the above, sometimes the unsaid things that are taken for granted can really bite!!

Each spring, I unhook from shore power and check the tightness of every electrical connection I can find and can reach. It's surprising how things can work loose while motoring down the highways.

Well, it turns out that the main neutral line was loose and could pull right out of the buss bar. The end of the wire had melted so I clipped it off, stripped the insulation and moved it down on the buss bar a little bit. Works fine now.

I like the phrase "these things are rolling earthquakes" and they sure are. The conditions of our roads does not help.

Hello richfaa
I saw a manufacturer of one of the high end SOB’s pulling a late model unit out of our 5 star RV Park yesterday and it had serious damage from a loose neutral.
Like you say they all have problems the difference is when the selling dealer had had the unit back in there shop and didn’t fix it the manufacturer came an transported the unit back to the factory for repairs.
It was a real nice looking trailer from the outside and a little over a year old but they said the rear of the trailer had extensive damage caused by the electrical system.
The company that built it has a 2 year cap to cap and 5 year warranty on structure.
