Overwhelmed

Beth and I are excited about attending our first ever Rally of any kind. We have signed up for many things. We watch the posts in regard to the Rally daily. we are very willing to help with anything, however, with all the sign-ups we don't want to bite off more than we can chew. Being our first Rally, we don't know what to expect. That said, is it ok for us to help out where needed without signing up for things such as set ups and clean ups. I understand with foods you want to know what is coming, we're ok there.

Your going to be just fine. If you see a need and want to help, just jump in. Your help will be appreciated, otherwise sit back and enjoy your first Rally. Your going to find more to learn and participate in than you can handle and that's great. A reason to come back next year. You for sure want to save time to meet and make new friends. One of the great things about the Rally is the chance to see and interact with folks who have a similar rig and similar interests. Being a first Rally you shouldn't feel shy. Be forward. Those of us who've been there before tend to seek out and hang with friends we may not have seen for a year, but we are not intentionally excluding you. In fact we'd like to include you in our groups so don't be shy and remember the most important reason you're at the Rally is to have fun!

I'm so glad you posted this question. I too am a first- timer and will be glad to help when needed. Really looking forward to the rally and can't wait to meet and make new friends. Some if our very best friends are those we met when camping.

Your help will be greatly appreciated. Just jump in with both feet. It is a great week for learning new ideas and meeting new friends. Safe travels on your way to Goshen. See you soon.

We found out that we got to meet and know people when we helped with the setup/tear down at the events. You can just sign up for one and then add as you want.

There's nothing better than jumping in with both feet and helping out with both set up and clean up at the events. No need to sign up just ask what you can do and I'm sure they will accept any help offered. This is a great way to meet the fellow attendees and make some really great friendships that will last forever. This is our fifth rally and we've met more fellow Montanians and we've kept our friendships going over these years. What a great group!

ANY help ANYWHERE with ANYTHING is ALWAYS appreciated at the Rallies. There is no better way to mingle & meet people than to jump in & get your hands dirty...

Welcome & we hope you enjoy the experience... your WM

Jim, I'm not afraid to get dirty, I'm a mechanic. Beth on the other hand works for a doctor. LOL. We'll be helping when ever and where ever we can.

I can't help but feel sorry for the new members that are coming to their first rally.. It has gotten way to complicated. So many things going on and so many things to sigh up for. If this was my first rally I would have cancelled already. Please new people, just come and enjoy the rally. You really do not have to do anything except get your name in for the things that have a limit. You can offer your help for anything when you see a need. If you need to take a day off, feel free to do that also.. Nobody has to go to everything. Stop, breath and enjoy. Meet and make new friends. Next time, you will know what you want sign up for..

Since I am a newbie, I found that if I just followed the instructions it was a piece of cake. Very clear, precise instructions have been posted many, many times. The Wagon Masters and helpers are doing a fantastic job and being very patient waiting for everyone to comply and follow instructions. I look every day for new updates and am surprised that there are still some that haven't paid or cancelled at this time. It's about time to move on with or without them. Keep up the good work WM's, looking forward to meeting you.

Lots of classes listed here that really don't need to be listed as independent threads, as they are open and you just walk in, sit down and enjoy.

Classes that require handouts, or materials, as some of the craft classes do, they need to have a count so materials are ordered and available.

Meals like at Tiara need a body count, so the vendor knows how much to bring. Meals like the Amish dinner and the lady's luncheon have limitations due to the room sizes.

Our pot luck meals, it is nice to sign up, personally, I am in a bit of a panic, half the people are gonna show up with no food in tow?? 60 families feeding 120?? Really??

T shirts and campsites MUST be ordered on time, or there will be no shirts and the campsites will be lost.

THE MOC HAS GROWN and so have almost ALL of our Rallys. Number 10 should be special, therefore lots of more activity.

It really is important to spend some time reviewing the LONG LONG LONG list of posts and such. So many questions that are asked are already answered, but, ya gotta read the posts.

IMPORTANT instructions are in those posts. TIME is spent writing them, tweaking them, monitoring them.

THIS IS A VOLUNTEER organization, that means participation and reading.

See ya at the Rally.

Having been to so many rallies MOC and others it always seems to be that sign up to bring food or not there is always more food that those in attendance cat eat. However..It is critical that you do sign up as to what you will bring so that we do not have 100 pots of baked beans at the pot luck.

We have enough food Rich, because everyone knows to bring some.

I worry bout the fellas that are members of the forum, and sorta forget to mention to their better halves that there are all these pot lucks.

Yes, I have seen and heard this happen:

Wife to Hubby, low growling and angst filled voice:

"You mean we were supposed to bring a dish, WHYYYYYYYYY didn't you tell me."

Just saying - -

Seen it, thought I would mention it.

DUDES, get your wives to read all this stuff on the Rally, BEFORE they get there. You won't be sorry! If ya get my drift!

Remember though... Not everyone will be at every function so it is hard to know just how much is needed. Whenever we do not sign up to bring something it means that we will not be there.
