still carving!

I haven't posted in a long time since I just been busy! lol, anyway, here are a couple of carvings recently done.
this pair of wrens won 1st place at crossville tn show awhile back. they are carved from basswood, feet made from copper, and I now carve the eyes in my carvings instead of using the glass eyes. the base's I turn on my lathe..Instead of painting this pair of wrens, I burned the color in them with burning pens. they look natural

this blackcapped chickadee was shown at a show in tullahoma tn and took first place in show, he is carved from basswood, copper feet, woodturned base, eyes carved and again instead of painting he is woodburned for the color
thanks for looking

Tom, you have an amazing talent. Those birds look as if they could fly away at any moment.

I am always amazed at people like you who can look inside a piece of wood and find the things you do. Absolutely amazing work. Thanks for showing.

Very impressive. That woodburning looks much harder than painting. Beautiful.

thank you all! Lynn, pat, yes I do sell my carvings. The ones shown here was sold at the show. And yes the burning is as hard as painting, I usually burn 150 to 200 lines per inch. This gives the soft look and feel of the carving. But I also burn about 50-60% of the carving when I paint one. thanks again, to a great bunch of people!
