2955 RL AC and heat adivce???

I have had my Monty since February and we love it. Time to take it back to the dealer for warranty work ( slides start and stop during cycling in and out and some other minor stuff) During the visit to the dealer I am going to add the front AC and would like to know what size and importantly, which brand / size is the quietest. Also thinking about having electric strip heat installed for both units. Finally, does the front AC hook up to the duct system of just circulate air through the unit?
Thanks
James, Jan and Zoe

We have the Carrier low-profile. It has high and low speeds. It also has oscillating louvers. you can also close the louvers and open the center cold air dump for quicker cooling of the room. We seldom run the unit at night, so noise is not a factor for us, but it is not inordinately noisy.

We had a 13500 Dometic the same as the factory would have installed and we are happy with it. We don't have the heat strip but it would be a good option.

James-- The cheapest would be a Fantastic Reversing Fan with a remote control but I'm sure that is out of the question. I just had to toss that in! I don't have a second AC yet so will be watching this thread myself! Sorry for the interference!!

We, too, have the Carrier Air V and like it. We OFTEN run it at night - we find the white noise is comforting.

If your Monty is new, there is a good chance the front AC rough-in is ducted. If it is, I would recommend a Dometic Duo-Therm AC to take full advantage of the dual zone thermostat provided. If you use another brand, it will not be compatible.

A few indications to look for are:

1) A small round white sensor located on the closet wall near the TV in the bedroom, that looks like a small smoke detector (2nd zone temperature sensor for thermostat)

2) Parallel ceiling vents along the length of the rig

The Dometic Duo Therm models are HP, Brisk Air, and Penguin (low profile) Dometic USA AC. If you're thinking about the heat strip, consider the new heat pumps instead - they are available in all the models listed above and produce far more heating btu than a heat strip. They are effective in ducted units, and you get the same btu/h heating as you do cooling when operating above 30 degrees.

On our 07, the front A/C is an add on and is not ducted...13,500 Dometic. It does have the heat strip which we really like, but it is very loud. At night, we turn it off and use the one in the living room (ducted) and a small fan.

Tom,
Our 07 isn't ducted either. Those pictures I posted are from an 09 I was checking out.
