While (dry) camping at Washoe Lake State Park near Reno there was a camper with a wind turbine and you could hear it in most of the park. Would love to have one if it was not so noisy. But it was quieter than my generator except I only run my generator for about 2 hours to charge the batteries.

I was going to supplement my solar with wind power . When i looked closely into it , I found the RV windmills had to have a 7 mph wind to turn , and they rate the output on full rotation it wont put out
full power at 7 mph . They have a wind map for the US -- look up your area first - from what i have seen was very few areas are suatable for wind generation of electricity . Yes everyone windmills have pumped water for years -- but remember it is a gear driven system no matter how little the windmill turns it will pump water -- just so it turns . To generate enough electric to charge batteries is different .

With southwest wind power , they recomend 9 MPH average wind speed . Just looked it up on the website , that is a lot of wind .
