Your WM's Hard at Work...?

Rumors, Rumors, Rumors...
Now it has been brought to my attention that a few folks don't actually believe that the WM's REALLY gathered in June for a Rally work session in central Illinois, or that we gathered & didn't work, or that the schedule was filled in with a generous sprinkling of pixie dust .

Honest folks, it ACTUALLY happened, & we worked our fannies off. To dispel any more rumors , below is a link to some pics showing the blood, sweat, & tears shed by all 6 of us for a week. So as not to scare off future WM's, some of the pics show that we did get a break once in a while, but not much.

Judge for yourself by going to:

P.S. - All in jest, of course, but it was a GOOD week, WE got a lot accomplished, & enjoyed the work tremendously (the 'rumor' was actually my neighbor with an SOB who saw the pics & said that Montana owners seem to do nothing but travel, eat, occasionally imbibe, & generally have fun. HELLO - Isn't that what the MOC is all about...? )!

So if you are thinking about becoming a WM, you can see from the pics that its not ALL work!

HA! I don't know about this. Looks more like a drunken, wild shindig to me....

Nah, just kidding. This kind of thing takes a lot of hard work. Thank you for taking charge. I look forward to meeting you all, and thanking you in person.

DUH, I fell for it Just a suggestion! If those who are starting the rumors were to help, they would have a better understanding of all the work the wagon masters and the assistance wagon masters do.

All who think the wagon masters have an easy job raise your hands. Thank you to those with your hands in the air for volunteering to be wagon masters next year

I will third Dick's suggestion also. Nothing like jumping in with both feet to gain experience!

Nice outing! How was the fishing? You know you do not have to have a license to fish there? It is a private lake.

Did you visit the campus of the U of I, otherwise known as University of Illinois! How is the corn? Knee-hi by the 4th of July?

Lots of agriculture in that area that I grew up in! Bob and I have stayed there every time we leave the National Rally to visit with my sister. Very glad you enjoyed yourselves.

So Myna did you volunteer to be a USO girl at the dances they held there at Chanute? I remember them well! Don't ask me how or why either!
OK back to the subject! We did get a lot accomplished at our little meeting in Champaign and it was a really nice mom and pop campground too. Quiet and far enough away from the interstate so we didn't hear the cars or trucks at all and the trains were quite a ways away too. Watch out for those red flashing lights in the northeast sky however!

Thanks for pictures and info. You all had me worried, I was afraid all you did was plan activities, try to keep the schedules straight, and worry for us.

All kidding aside, I know that planning these events IS hard work. Claudia and I were planners for local, state, and regional Gold Wing Road Riders Association rallies for many years. If you have never been involved with something like this you can't really appreciate what all goes into these events. And when every things run smooth, it just looks easy when it really isn't. So thank you to our wagon masters and all who volunteered to help them out this year.

No USO girl, but I did meet this Airman that drove a Corvair! We made a few stops along the way from Chanute to C-U weekly! Hmmmm...those were the days!
