Longest run so far
Well we made the longest run so far in the Monty yesterday. Left Barstow, Ca with the intent of stopping overnight in Bridgeport, CA. but it was only 1:30 so we headed on and thought we would stop in Carson City, NV but it was only 4:30 and like the "Old Mare" we could smell the barn so headed on to home Chico, CA.
Had not planned to make a 600 mile, 12 hour run but it went just fine. Don't plan to do that again soon.

We have only made one run that length...ours was not by choice! Towing the Montana for that long/distance was no fun and not anything we will do again (by choice).

We just did a ten hour from Corning, CA to Portland, OR. Used to be able to do these, but as the years have accumulated the comfortable distances have dwindled. Besides that our views of what is important have changed. That being said we, did make the trip thinking it was important.

That would be the way to do that many miles; as you felt like it. I wouldn’t want to plan a trip like that I would be tired before I got started.
I would like to see the days again where we can simply just take off and not even know where we are headed. With the reservation requirements that are needed in today’s time period I doubt that could be done today.

Don,
That was a long day! Glad it went well. It was good seeing you and Gail at the Rally. See you soon and best wishes to Gail on her upcoming medical procedure. Happy Trails, Dennis.

Been there and done that, but retirement and going full time means I don't have to do it anymore.

Long trip. Glad you made it safely. I pulled out of Goshen after the rally last year and stopped in NC at home that night. Never again, too hard.

This is definitely one thing that most of us has tried at least once just to be desperate, impatient, finish the day, or whatever reason that keeps us going.
Yes, I'm on that list, too. Hated it, hoped I never do it again, but I reserve the right to change my mind and do it again when I get one of those hair-brained schemes to get the drive over with by forgetting what the journey will do to me. And then I'll just hate that I did it again and then post my idiocy in the MOC. I promise I am not showing off.

Once was enough for us as well doing 600+ in one day. We were both working and wanted to get home on a Saturday so we would have time to unload and relax b4 going back to work. Now that we're both retired, who cares about time!!!!!!!

We did 1,010 once. Was going to Ak from Long Island had planned to make Oh then kept going stopped for dinner figured we could make it past Chicago so we wouldn't have to deal with morning rush hour traffic ended up in Wisconsin. Total time was about 18 hours but then there was nothing we wanted to see on that part of the ride. Wouldn't want to do that on a regular basis.

When I was a kid and in the service and didn't know any better, we made it from Boston to Chicago (~1000 miles), in a Volkswagen. Sharon had to pry my fingers from the steering wheel.
Now that I'm a lot older, and still don't know any better, we were on our way home from Calgary (~1300 miles) a few years ago. We didn't have any stops planned, Sharon was sleeping in her air ride seat, and there wasn't much to dispell the lure of the barn. We made that trip in two days. Of course, the cab of the truck is about the size of that Volkswagen of years ago. It seemed like we chased the sunset for hours.
