I am sitting here pulling an all-nighter for work. We will try to leave at 6 a.m. but we have a longer drive than everyone else. Thanks for the directions. I will make a note of it.

If you are volunteering to cook breakfast, Margee, I doubt anyone will argue!

Oh Man!!! The only thing I have to say about this place is boy is it ever beautiful. The camp hosts are so laid back and nice. Great place for a PARTY!!!! Went to Boomtown tonight with D & M, Toolman & Mrs. Toolman, Mr. & Mrs Party Crashers and did we ever have a great time. The LOBSTER is huge. And it is all you can eat of those critters too.....Saw this crown on display with a note that someone ate 33 lobsters in 12 minutes and won $2,000....Having a great time with new and great friends. Lots of laughs and Marg is cookin breakfast for us....UMMMMMMMM! Will post more tomorrow. We are headed to the BBQ RIB COOKOFF......So much to do and see here. Kathi

WhooHooo!.... this place is great. We are having a ball with the others here. I'm borrowing a laptop and we are all outside relaxing before we go off to the BBQ Rib Cook-off.

All you can eat lobster last night for $19 was amazing. While we were standing in line at the buffet, a woman dressed in a lobster costume was handing out red "lobster beads". Roy (toolman) offered to pull up his shirt for the beads but she told him it wasn't necessary. Roy finally just took the beads....*LOL

And then Kathi was trying to figure out how to sneak out of the buffet with her purse full of lobster.

We topped off our meal with about an hour of gambling and then we drove back to the campground and retired for the night, satisfied and content.

Anyways.... wish you all were here!

Having a BLAST!!! Wish that everyone of you could have come for this. It is just incredible. Roy (Toolman) Doug, and Kevin were kind enough to fix the seat on my scooter. Thanks guys now I feel like one of the group. Now onward and forward to the BBQ.

We are having a great time here with Doug and Margee, Paul and Kathi, and Denise and Kevin. The ribs were unbelievable at the cookoff and lots of other interesting food and people watching. This is also our first experience with Wi-Fi connection. Margee was feeling left out with the rest of us with laptops, so I suspect it won't be long!

I tried to get Margee to try mine as I have the model she is interested in getting, but she said no, because it is a personal thing.....? We sat out and laughed and chatted for about 2 hours and then decided to walk over to the casino and have some coffee and desert. Had a great time. Roy (Toolman) just had to touch the machines and he would win. My mom (big spender) had given me $10 to put into a machine. She told me not to put the winnings back in just to bring it home. Within 5 minutes I had gotten her $20. on her $10. She will be happy. I don't think anyone really lost anything. That was really fun to. Paul and I were tired from the long day at the BBQ (STUFFED IS MORE LIKE IT)so we went back to camp. I don't know how everyone else faired but I will bet they had a great time....More after we return from the 2nd day at the BBQ....

Kathi,

Glad to read you're all having a good time. I was going to suggest that somebody loan Margee their computer. Looks like GMTA.

Dick would love to go to a Rib cookoff...quite possibly his favorite food.

Roy and Nancy, thank you for the updates as well.

Enjoy all!

Okay..... I borrowed a laptop from PartyCrashers to post.... I'm ordering from Dell as soon as I get home!

Yes, this is a nice place... and we are all very happy that we came. The 8 of us sat outside for awhile last night, with the 3 laptop owners clicking away on their keyboards and the men talking tools and Montana specs while drinking cocktails.

Today we are going back to the festivities and then we are all going over to the El Dorado casino for a big prime rib dinner buffet.

We'll all be sad when this comes to an end and are already talking about meeting up here again next year.

I could go on and on about this place, the people and everything else. But I won't, Yes I will. We are all exhausted from all the fun we had this weekend. We had a great breakfast all together. Doug BBQ'd the pancakes some chocolate chip, Margee and Denise fixed a potato mixture that was to die for, there was fruit, eggs, you name it we had it. The guys were very busy swating bees with Kevin's battery operated fly swatter. Fried quite a few of them to...LOL Roy (Toolman) and Nancy were great keeping everyone entertained with stories, experiences etc. All and all I think it was a SMASH HIT.....
Doug, Margee, Kevin and Denise all left about 25 minutes ago. Roy, Nancy, Paul and I are all dead. We are tired and going to sleep till tomorrow when we all pull out to go with our business. We will be headed back up to Montana to be with my daughter and look for a new home and property. Kathi

I’d like to thank ToolManRoy (Roy & Nancy), Kathi (Paul & Kathi) and PartyCrashers (Kevin & Denise) for the most enjoyable time at Reno these last four days.

The “Best in the West” BBQ Cook-off was an awesome event, we had so much fun. Top rated Rib BBQers from around the country cooking ribs with all the trimmings, a hundred or more craft booths and great music. One booth made custom license plate frames so I had one made for our Montana with our MOC number and the MOC web address.

During the times in-between our visits to the Cook-off, we’d nap, or sit outside someone’s Montana and just talk and enjoy the park which was nestled at the base of hills, or we’d be off eating at the Boomtown Lobsterfest, or the El Dorado’s buffet.

The dinner at the El Dorado buffet was excellent. We were seated in the center of the room and had the only table with a white linen tablecloth and several waiters hovering over us. I kept looking around trying to figure out why we were being treated so special. (Maybe they knew we were Montana Owners?) Afterwards, while Paul & Kathi were lost and in search of each other, the rest of us spent a couple of hours roaming the casinos and gambling.

One night we all walked down to the restaurant located at the RV Park and had late night dessert/coffee which Paul picked up the entire tab.(if we had only known we would have ordered more!) We spent a most enjoyable hour there discussing the merits of Roy & Nancy’s “kegerator” kitchen faucet, it was a nice ending to a nice day.

Another evening we spent sitting outside enjoying cocktails, with the men talking “men stuff” and the women enjoying wireless internet service and showing off pictures of grandbabies and photos of past travels. Of the four couples, three had laptops ( we didn’t) but that is something I will be remedying here soon!

The last morning we all met between ToolManRoy’s and PartyCrasher’s RVs and had breakfast outside. Doug made two types of pancakes on an outside grill: Oat ‘n Honey and Chocolate Chip. We also had several fruit salads, scrambled eggs and a potato dish made with smoked sausage, pinquito beans and green onions.

Such a great time with great people. We’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. In fact, we just might get another trip planned for next year’s event.

“The MOC isn't just a group of people, they're family”. If this isn’t the official motto of the MOC, it certainly should be. We felt like family with them all.

Edit:
Winner's of this year's BBQ Rib Cook-off are:
1st Place: Butch's Smack Your Lips BBQ
2nd Place: Chicago BBQ Company
3rd Place: Desperado's BBQ & Rib Co.
4th Place: Kinder's Custom Meats Inc.
5th Place: B.J.'s Barbecue
Best Sauce: Maui Wowie BBQ Co.
People's Choice: Famous Dave's BBQ

We we arrived home about 3:30 this afternoon after a nice drive back through the Mt. Lassen/Mt. Shasta areas and a stop for lunch. It is a long drive but enjoyable. We left early and tried to find Paul and Kathi to say goodbye but no one was outside and it was too early to knock on doors. We had a wonderful time and we are glad we had the extra day off to relax. We passed several Montanas on the way back to Oregon. I hope we can do it next year too but we do have Mt. Shasta to look forward to in the meantime.

We left about 10, because we had a little trouble hitching. Thank goodness for the bedsaver.....Caught it before we even left the park. We got up to Winnamucca and there was a young couple next to us. They had a little baby Doxy. The lady was talking to me and was telling me about her friends that have a Montana and just love it. She said that they go to some kinda rallies and just have a ball. I ask her their names and you'll never guess who they are Would you believe that their names are Michael Brown & Renee Traversino!!! AKA Gofnuts....I cracked up. (Thanks Margee for the book from last year at Siskiyou). I showed that to them and they told me to tell Gofnuts that Steve & Jeri Bera said hello. Whats the chance of that ever happening again?????

Kathi, you are so right, what are the chances of that happening!!! We have enjoyed the posts of all that attended the Reno's Rib Cookoff. We just might be tempted to go next year (we usually stay home over Labor Day weekend). Was it terribly crowded?? Sure sounds like everyone had great food. The lobster dinner sounded exceptionally good!! Thanks so much to all for sharing with us.

Well I have to admit that the old folks (that would be us) found the crowds at the BBQ a bit much, but I think if you arrive early or time it earlier in the day it would be much better. We noted it started on Thursday and that would probably have been a great day to go. The lobster buffet was at Boomtown and was good but the Eldorado buffet was a bit nicer. We had a good time at both due to the company!

GOFNUTS, You would have had a blast. Yes you will have to go next year. Paul and I will be at Siskiyou in May so we will get to meet you. Your friends were really nice. It was their new puppy that first got us talking. I have a longhaired Doxy. They just got a really cute puppy. When Jeri was talking about their friends that had a Montana I thought maybe you were new owners and didn't know about the forum. So I started telling them about it. That is when they told me that you had been attending rallies and really enjoyed them. I asked them your names and they told me. I thought it really sounded familiar but I wasn't sure. So I went back to the trailer and started looking in the book that Margee gave me in Reno. By gollie, there was your profile from the questionaire for Siskiyou last year. I took it over and ask them if that was you and they couldn't believe it either.....Go figure....LOL
ToolmanRoy; Wow what fun you guys were. And Roy thanks again for fixing my scooter. Nancy, see if you can get Roy to go and get you one of his famous faucets for your house. I know he won't give the one up that is in the trailer.....LOL
