CradlePoint MBR1400 Installed

I got my Cradlepoint MBR1400 with Verizon 3G/4G LTE Modem cap installed. I also installed same in the stick house, and have ditch the Cable Modem, so now I am 100% wireless. My Work Phone was also converter to Verizon Wireless Home Connect, so now I can work anywhere.

I see you are not using an external 3G/4G antenna. Any thought to adding one down the road? Nice installation job!

I have a panel antenna (used for houses) on the back of the Montana, that points toward the front. So all cell phones or modems inside the Montana get signal boosted. I have two booster, one for 3G and Cell service, and another for Verizon 4G LTE. Here is a picture of my boosters, I connect the external antenna with cable that come up threw the convenience center.



Here is a picture of my antenna, needs to be 100' from the inside antenna. Shorter distances can be done, but have to reduce the gain on the boosters.



I don't have a picture of the inside antenna, I will post it when I have one.

I got everything from 3Gstore.com. I have Versizon, so you need to make sure you get the right booster for your cell provider. Call 3GStore to make sure you get the right items for you enivornment.

The Booster is a House booster, and looks like they just came out with a one booster that now supports all three, but price works out to about the same. Here is the new booster $1,050:

I was debating replacing my cable modem with a portable hotspot device now that 4G LTE has entered my area. I was thinking I could use it at home and take it with me on camping trips. Just trying to get a handle on costs.

There are plus and minuses to my setup over cable modem. Big one is you pay per GB with Verizon vs flat fee unlimited data with cable modem. I get around this by using my Smart Phone that has unlimited data with PDANet+. The MBR1400 will see my phone is in range and running PDANet+, and will route all internet traffic to my phone instead of the internal modem. If my phone gets out of range or is not running PDANet+, the MBR1400 switches to the internal modem which I have 10 GB of data on.

For me 4G LTE is faster for my work, since upload and download speed are about the same with 4G LTE, where cable modems have a limited upload speed of 512 KB to 1 GB.

Don't know if you have installed security cams or not, but you will not be able to connect to them from the internet if you are on 4G LTE. This is because Verizon uses a private network for 4G LTE. They do make cloud based cameras, but they cost more, which will work, I think 3GStore sells them.

I have two wireless thermostats and both work fine with 4G LTE, so they are cloud based devices.

Lastly if you are using Dish Network Sling, it will not work with 4G LTE either, but you really don't want to eat up your data GB anyway if you switch to Verizon 4G LTE.

If you currently have a Verizon Smart Phone, try PDANet+ and see how it works for you. PM your phone # (and good times to talk) if you would like to talk on the phone.

Thanks John for the information. It looks like I can get about 4GB for the amount of money I am spending on Cable Internet. I think I'll remain with Tenglonet when camping for the time being. I did see the big Internet Providers are going after the campground owners who distribute the service after buying commercial packages. Everyone is out to grab as much as they can.
By the way, I neglected to mention what a very professional install job on your system.

I use PDAnet and it is reliable and while not fast free.
