Gas Stove Advice - Burning Bottoms
Hello, Susanne wants to know if there are any tricks to avoid burning the bottom of cakes when cooking in the gas oven. Cakes turn out perfectly with the right cooking time except for the burnt bottoms.
Thanks

We use a rectangular pizza stone, it helps distribute the heat, elimination hot spots

We purchased a terracotta floor tile from Lowes and had it cut to fit the bottom recess of the oven. It wasn't very thick, it was cheap and Lowe's cuts to size for free. It has been at the bottom of our oven for about 2 years and has stopped our burnt bottoms.

Thank you for the information - I never thought to ask what others did to resolve the burning issue. Made a trip to BB&B and got an Air bake sheet. Can't wait to try it out on the next trip!

Craig-- One question-- How do you talk Susanne into baking a cake for you? Don't think it would happen in our Monte!
