and another bird emerges

this is an eastern bluebird on a piece of wood that I carved from basswood to make look like an old weathered fence post. The barbwire I made from twisting 2 pieces of #12 copper wire together, then twisted 2 indiviual pcs of copper wire for the barbs, then spread glue on the wire, sprinkled fine sand on the wire and painted with burnt umber to make it look old and rusty. Flower is carved from leftover pieces of scrap basswood, and stem made from copperwire covered with epoxy..thanks

You are so very talented. I can't even draw stick men without messing something up.

Tom I love your new posts with your creations. You should really give a demonstration at one of the rallies. I would love to see how you do this.

thanks every one for the kind comments. Phil, I'm always glad to give a demonstration on carving and painting. In the campground I'm at now, 2 days ago had 9 people watching as I carved a black capped chickadee, then yesterday they plus 4 others came by to watch the painting of same bird. I am always amazed at the young kids ages from 9 to 15 interested and wanting to learn carving. had 3 yesterday morning came by early about 7 knocking on my door, asking "Mr Tom you going to carve today?!! LOL. One little guy the other day, (said he was 9) came by as I was carving a bluebird, set down to watch. He ask dozens of questions on carving and the tools I was using. One question was the funniest, He ask, Mr Tom, I guess carving is what you do when you get OLD!!! LOL, I almost burst out laughing, but instead with a straight face answered, yep larry, but I also started at about your age!!

Tom,
My friend here in P'Cola has a computer collection pictures of birds from all over the world. I told him of your talents and I'm going to send him a picture of you Easter Blue Bird. If I can finagle a CD from him I'll send you a copy.

Tom, your eastern bluebird is wonderful! And your barbwire--what a clever way to make it look old and rustic.

We love bluebirds, and luckily, we live right on the "bluebird trail" that goes through Montana. In spite of continuing snow and sub-freezing weather, I put up our bluebird houses 3 weeks ago. Within days, we had western bluebirds everywhere!

Thanks for sharing.
