Which one

We are looking at a 2 ram 3500 one is a 2014 long bed with all the bells and whistles at 61000 miles and the 5th wheel setup in the bed. The other is a new 2016 Tradesman with a 6ft 4in bed which one would you choose.

Pretty little info there John ,No Price or much info on anything else,SOOOOOOO ??????????? why do you not go to a RAM Forum with ALL the info and get a opinion with folks that LIVE Dodge/Ram Trucks?????? not a Montana RV Forum JMHO,That is what I do when I am shopping for a Duramax/Allison (my flavor) and talk to folks that LIVE and Breathe Ram/Cummins and there are LOTS of them

I agree that you should have given much more information. You didn't even state what engines/transmissions/cabs/etc we are talking about here. BUT based on the tiny amount of information you gave I would choose the 2014 SIMPLY because I like bells and whistles and dislike the plain look of a Tradesman.

Hope I can slip this in. Get a price from Vernon auto group in Vernon Tx. I live in N.C. Bought a 2016 there and was well worth going the 1350 miles. Trust me. They have a good website.

i prefer the 8' bed mainly because of the extra clearances as well as the ride. A friend of mine has the short bed and he will tell you the extra wheelbase helps the ride

We had a 2014 3500DRW 6.7 cummins and had nothing but problems. Traded for a 2016 3500DRW 6.7 Cummins and Asin trans and it is great. Both long beds.

I like the long bed. And I like bells and whistles. But I also like new. Assuming they have comparable engines and transmissions, I would certainly consider the 2014 if it is in like new condition. A thorough inspection of the 2014 by a respected mechanic and an ESP would be in my plans though.

I have the 6-ft. bed on my 2013 Ram diesel (Laramie package}. There is absolutely no doubt the long bed adds advantages while carry loads and dragging a 5-th wheel around. That being said, the deal-breaking disadvantage for myself was that it wouldn't fit in my garage, and there was no way I was parking my new $50K truck out in the sun!
My 6ft. bed handles just fine pulling my 3400RL and I just just think the short bed looks better too, but that's just my opinion.

I have the 5-th wheel ready package in mine, and I really love it. Combined with the Andersen Ultimate Hitch, my set-up works just perfectly and conveniently and I can be back to my clean, flat, totally empty bed in 5-minutes all by myself.

JMHO...61000 miles with fifth wheel setup sounds like a lot of towing miles for a 2 year old truck. Trucks are made to do tough work but that sounds high to me. Also out of warranty. I prefer new, equipped the way I want. You may never use someone else's bells and whistles.

I believe you are mistaken. It should have a 100,000 warranty.

Yup...my GMC has a 100K warranty. Just had a DEF heater and a glow plug replaced...no charge...within the last several months. 2013 GMC 3500HD 99,000+ miles.

If warranty period is an issue you may be able to buy the Extended Warranty. Expensive but will provide some peace of mind.

If I'm wrong about the warranty, so be it. I do know that some of these lengthy warranties only apply to the first owner. Hyundai is one. My main comment was about the mileage. 61,000 miles in 2 years seems a lot to me. Especially if most of that is towing miles. Just saying.
Like another poster stated, not enough info to make an informed decision.
All this is JMHO.

I like low miles, too, but 61k is nothing on a diesel. If you look up trucks on KBB, in the mileage block it says, "leave blank if diesel."

The Cummins engine and powertrain are 100k warranty. Not sure about the other brands

I think just the engine has a 100,000 mile warranty. The rest of the drivetrain has a 60,000 mile warranty.
