Alaska Highway

We spent our first day on the Alaska Highway today. We left Dawson Creek and Mile Post 0 at 8:00 this morning. We are spending the next three days in Fort Nelson. Outside of deer the only animals we saw today was a man walking his dog.

Tomorrow we will check out the Northwest territory. That will really fill in a big space on our map. Later

We spent two nights at Fort Nelson, Helen. Don't know what we did there. Some of the scenery immediately ahead of you isn't as awesome as the rest of BC and Alaska, as I recall. Watson Lake is coming up. Get your sign ready for the sign forrest!

Yesterday we drove up to the Northwest Teritories. Now that is really NORTH. We left the Tana in Fort Nelson and glad we did. The truck is filthy.

We saw one moose, two Bison, six bears and took some great pictures. It was really fun.

adelmoll, blaze a trail for me, I am leaving next sunday if nothing comes up to prevent us from leaving. We have a distance to cover first, we are leaving from north Georgia. Let me know anything that might enlighten us.
Thanks, David

Will do David. I will keep my blog updated and also post at this topic as much as possible. Bill said "Bring Money" Fuel is running us about $100 per day if we travel our usual 300 miles.

FHU camp grounds with wifi have been running us abour $22-25 a day (Canadian dollars). We find that much cheaper than the states. They are not resorts though. Just nice clean parks. We have not had any problems fitting the Monty. Come on up. You're gonna LOVE it.

Awesome, Helen and Bill! That makes us famous, doesn't it? Now you know for sure that we were there. Great pictures of the sheep, by the way. Muncho Lake was one of the most beautiful spots on the drive and the most expensive. We know just where you were from your descriptions. Love your WiFi connection....whatever works! Whitehorse will seem very civilized compared to where you've been. Check out the parking lot at Walmart. It looks like a campground. The museum is also fun. So glad that you're having such a great time. Travel safe. Watch out for bears! The black she-bears are the most dangerous, especially when they have cubs.

Bill & Helen, we're enjoying your photos and trip log. They bring back memories of our trips along that route in 1998.

Thanks for package you sent to the rally with Dick & Toni. At least you were here in spirits!

Hi guys, we are well on our way. We spent the night in Missouri at Aztar Casino RV Park. We had to see how our luck was running. We did good. We won some money,, they comp. our dinner and our night in the park. This is the way to travel!!!
We are now in Arkansas near the White River. Corp. of Engineer park on the Bull Shoals Lake. Very nice park. We plan on coming back to do some fishing, but we will leave tommorrow heading for Denver, then on to Montana.

I hear the casino in Dawson City is awesome. Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall has something for everyone including three different shows nightly. We will head up there after our mail catches up to us. I'll let you know how we do.

Good Morning All, we spent the night in Kansas City Mo. We stopped in Springfield at the Bass Pro Complex yesterday, and I mean complexx!!! We have Bass Pro around Atlanta, but this is the GRANDADDY store. I found alot of stuff I needed, but Brenda did not understand why.
We had a pretty intense rain, lightning, wind storm for about 1 hour last night. Pretty awesome light show. But we are moving on today toward Denver and parts north, we have never visited the area around Estes Park. Interstate 70 west today, that is the plan.

Estes is a beautiful area. Try to take your time and see it all. Rocky Mountain National Park should not be missed. It is awesome.

We are in Colorado. We pulled across Kansas today, we saw farm, after farm, after farm, after farm, after farm. Do you get the picture. Pretty countryside but that's it for me.
We are definitely going to Rocky Mountain Park. We are thinking of staying a Boyd Lake State Park, can anyone give me some info on this park?
We are getting into the part of the country that I love, I am getting excited.
