Not sure of the application... tire pressure etc, but Master Flow makes a pretty decent line of portable units. They are a bit beefier than the typical units you'll find a wallyworld etc. The master flow units are pretty big with the off road crowd for when you need to deflate or blow up your big tires and they make units that will pump up to 150psi. The more powerful ones pull upwards of 40amps when running so its a good idea to have the truck running when using them.
Don't know of other brands but I did use a MF for a number of years when I did a lot of off roading and never had a problem. I think they sell them on Amazon.

I have a Vair 450-C, does a great job. You should have at least a 2.5 gallon tank as well.

We have a 12 volt compressor from Harbor Freight- Cost approx. $45.00- It's slow as are most 12 volt compressors but gets the job done for us- It's compact and light weight- Older posts on this forum have also recommended this unit- JMHO- Don

Like Ozz eluded to ... depends on application. I also carry one of the high volume Harbor Freight compressors (@$45). I carry it only for tire issues and maybe to adjust my airbags a bit. Really doesn't take long to pump up a 16" tire and has lasted several years and still going.

Ahhh, the air horns. Wouldn't be without them.
I also have the Ambulance horn, the 'Sttuter-horn'.
Here is some info for you, and questions, just ask.

Several folks have recommended the Master Flow compressors. They are made by Q Industries and they are consistently reviewed as one of the best bangs for the buck compressors available. I have the MV50 and its big brother the MV90. both are great. I use the MV90 to air up or top off my G614 tires to 95lbs on the Monty and my truck tires very quickly. The MV90 is compared in reviews to the Viair, but usually costs about $150 last time I looked.
The unit Ozz recommended looks good too.

jkpruitt, you should have an air tank with the 12 volt compressor for reserve air, it's better for really everything, air horns, the tires, blowing lines out, and scaring the dog.

I picked up a small 12v Unit at Lowe's that is branded "Slime", the little thing works great! It takes it a bit to do 110psi on the FW tires and also the 80psi on the truck tires due to the volume. Nice little kit with an extension hose a bottle of tire slime, tire plugs and tools. The only thing I can complain about is that the cord is not long enough to reach from the truck to the tire on the FW. Simple fix! Made a 12v extension cord out of a 7 blade plug, an old 25' 12ga. ext cord and a 12v socket that I had laying around. It has made things so much easier!
