Chevy 8.1L V8

My truck saleman and I had a long conversation today about various truck issues. He mentioned that the 8.1L had been dropped from the truck line. GM's reasoning is that those that were buying the 8.1 are now buying diesels. As an alternative to the diesel, they have tweaked the 6.0L up to 353 hp, and the party line is that those that insist on a gasser will be happy with the beefed up 6.0L. Time will tell.

I was also told by GM dealer that the 8.1L had lots of issues with oil consumption as well and was another reason along with lack of sales of them as well.

Gm is coming out with a V10 to replace the 8.1

At what RPM does the 6.0L develop that horsepower? Many of these "high performance engines" need to reach between 5000-6000 rpm to get the horsepower! I personally like the 330 hp at 4200rpm.
