I'm kinda liking this new look. On the old site, the posts were divided up by subject, while the new site appears to just have everything in the same place. Did I miss something or do you have any plans to group postings by topic?

The site is still divided up into topic areas.

Start here: http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/index.php

You can see the various forum areas. (scroll a little).

The right side column shows the latest posts in a running feed.

You can also find all of the days posts by clicking on "todays posts" on the upper nav bar.

Thanks for the direction, Janet! Now, having done that and finding the topics, let me take it one step further. In the old site when we clicked on today's posts or whatever term used was, the new posts came up separated into the topics. With the new site, we just get a mixed list of everything that has come in, not by topic. I always enjoyed being able to pick through the current posts on given topics, and not having to sort through all comers. I realize that not everything will be able to be mirrored from the old technology. I just want to give you my two cents worth for perhaps making the new stuff better!

When you look at the todays posts listing you can see the forum area the various discussion threads are in.

Name:	MOC_topic.jpg
Views:	36
Size:	144.0 KB
ID:	66

The other thing you can do is go to your favorite topic area.. Provided you are logged in, threads that have been posted to since you last read them will appear in bold font, titles that are not bolded have no new content. This makes it pretty easy to selectively look.

Following up on this issue... After doing some digging it looks like there are some software limits in play and it's only going to be possible to add 1 image.

That said, we've tweaked the set up a little to increase the size limits.

Moving forward you should be able to add a sig image that is up to 500 x 125 pixels. That's a nice size and should display well.

here's what that looks like:

Name: montana signatures.gif
Views: 154
Size: 24.8 KB

If you need some help designing one of these maybe we could start a new thread and get some graphically inclined MOC members to assist with designing nice sigs for folks.

Quick question. I loaded my profile picture of 400 x 400 and saved it, and it says upload failed. My signature shows my 125 x 500 pic, but does not post it when I submit a reply to a post?

I see your profile pic displaying here on your profile page: http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/member.php?u=18510

If you want a picture to display next to your posts you'll need to load an avatar image as well. You can do that from the same area of your user CP

I fixed up your signature - you had gotten the image uploaded, just not inserted it into the signature - it looks nice.

Question

Janet, Are all of the Signature Permissions suppose to be turned ON in my Control Panel? If so, how do I turn them on?

I have been trying to load a Signature Pic, that is within the size limits, and it won't let it show. I tried hitting the "Insert Picture" button but nothing happens.

The on/off setting controls whether your sig displays in posts.

If you are having trouble - just load the image to a post and I can get it into your sig

You missed step 4 (clicking the insert signature picture link). You can read the process to add a sig in post 24 here: http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=70323

It's a bit complicated - not 'programming your gps' complicated, but still...

I love the new site! Much easier to read and can scan multiple threads like my other forums. You guys did great with the upgrade. Still trying to figure out the issue between here and my photobucket account. Obviously something they've changed had screwed up the size when posting not only here, but in my others as well. So far each forum has a little different step to get them sized, but I'm trying. This layout here now makes it so easy to read. Job well done gang!!

Another option is to load them directly to the site which you can do now. Click on "go advanced" at the bottom of the reply editor to see options to add attachments. You can add images to posts and also to photo albums (found in your profile).

In years past, I've always been able to load them directly to my forums by going to PB and copying the "IMG" from the pic and just pasting it into the thread. When I do that now, the forum will say that the pic has been resized. The pic still appears pretty large in the thread. I just don't want to have the problem that I had with the old site with the mods/admins having to try to resize or getting on me for doing what I've done for years. I want to make this easy for everyone as I love this group. I will post one here to show what I am talking about. Thanks for the reply earlier.
