Max Air Covers

My. Wife and I are to pick up our New 2018 legacy Full Body paint. ,3720RL in three weeks and he'd out full time as we close the sale on our home tomorrow .
We are looking at having the max Air Covers I stalled on our Three roof vents .
Questions.
Do we need these with the vents having the rain sensors ?
I thought of the added Height and our dealer advised us we are at 13.5 feet with out the max Air Covers and the covers wod add 1.5 inchs making us at 13 feet. Seven and half inchs total height
We will be observant when..approaching bridges that's for sure .
We had max Air Covers on our 2014 295rst Crusader and loved the fact we had air movement when traveling .
Please share some thoughts.
Thanks. Jeff and Yan.

I added covers to our unit and it appears that they are no taller than what the AC unit is. Best best would be to hook up to your unit and actually measure what the actual height is. You can then make your decision, even better measure where your vents are and add the extra for the cover and you will have all the facts to make your decision.

I installed covers on our vents, and the height is still no higher than that of the front A/C. We have the standard vents in the bath area, and a Fantastic Fan near the kitchen. I purchased Camco vent covers for the standard vents and the Fantastic cover for that fan. I used the cover on the Fantastic fan because it will close if it starts raining, but what do you do if you want the vent open and it's raining? That is why I installed the cover on that vent as well as the other two standard vents.

I think my older trailer is lower but all our vents are covered. The Fantastics [2] and the regular vents [2] so they can be left open regardless of the weather.
Yes, the rain sensors worked but not perfectly. Some rain got in before the sensor got wet enough to close.
But for us it's the ability to leave open when we choose.
I also leave them all open when the trailer is stored for the air circulation other wise the rig would need to be shut up tight which is an invitation to trouble. with mildew. Still have to watch for mildew but the open vents help.

Ours didn't add anything to our height either on the old rig or the new. We like them to protect the vents not only driving down the road, but also from hail and other issues.

We had them put the Max Air vent covers on before we took delivery. It appears that they are lower than the front A/C.

Unless you dealer has your truck sitting on his lot with your new trailer hooked up loaded and ready for travel, he has no accurate idea how tall your fiver will be.

I would agree that the max covers are nice to have no matter if your fans have rain sensors or not. Congrats on the new unit, you should really enjoy it!

Same here. Dealer threw them in after deal made along with a Dometic 320.

I've always had the vent covers included/installed in the deal when negotiating... Each time we came to a price and then I said oh wait I need the vent covers as well and they threw then in for no extra money.

The MaxxAir vent covers are actually a bit lower the front a/c on our HC which is right at 13'2"

Regardless of whatever your final height is (hopefully 13'6" or less), those &@#$ power and cable lines are still an unforeseen problem - or at least in my neighborhood - they cost me a vent cover and a TV antenna

When your running the furnace, its a good idea to run a fan to remove humidity, 2 adults and 3 children put out a lot of moisture just breathing (pic in my sig is pre-vent cover install)

If you have a front A/C unit, it's probably higher than any vent cover would be. If you don't have the front A/C unit, then the vent cover will probably, in fact, be your highest point.
Fan cover advantage: Keeping the vent open even in the rain. Fan cover disadvantage: Possibly increasing clearance problems.

We only use the vents in our unit occasionally for cooking and the bathroom. Would there be any significant value for vent covers for us? What purpose do they serve?

I installed vent covers on my other TT units I`ve owned. I always covered the units with a camper cover for winter storage. That being said, I never closed any of my vents even in the winter storage months, as it helped to keep the temperature the same inside as outside, thus eliminating moisture or condensation issues. I will also install covers on my new 5er when I pick it up next Saturday the 17th.

They are great to help draw air in through your windows when you are getting some rain plus keep the heat load down with strong sun. The Monty windows don't open as wide as some other models. Otherwise you need to run a/c.

I think we will just run the AC. I don't like the idea of adding anything up on the roof that we don't need. If we need to air the camper out we will use the screen door.

But thanks for the explanation.
