Might get a new Dodge

I'v been looking at the new Dodge, Ford,& GMC/Chevy Duro.
Seems that Chevy will only give 373 gears unless you go to the 4500/5500. Ford is looking at a new type motor to replace the one they have now in a couply of years, I like the Crew cab in both of these units lots of room, the dodge on the other hand has less leg room than those two, unless you go to the Mega Cab which only comes in a 6 foot bed so thats out, I want a 8 foot bed. so I guess it will be the Quad cab with a 8 foot bed by Dodge. the other problem is how high the bed of the truck is compaired to my 96 Ford it is almost 6 inches higher and thats a 4x2 Wheel Drive not a 4x4. I dont want to do flipping the axel again it's to much work and a pain getting in and out of the trailer without a platform.
Dodge Quad Cap doesn't give the leg room for the rear seat pasingers that Ford and GMC/Chevy do but I dont haul that many extra passingers that often (trying to sell myself that) I could go with the 4500 Dodge and have a box put on it with compartments on the sides, OH Hum... Decissions.. Decissions

Hi Don,

You might want to take a look at my link to Picasa picture site. Go to the "5th Wheel" album. Take a look at my friend's Dodge. He just had the bed installed a few months ago. Nice setup.

Don,

I wne through the same thing when I purchased my 2006 Dodge. The backset doesn't have much room, but I also hardly ever have any passangers in the back seat. I was born a Ford man but I must say I have been really happy with my Dodge. If I could just get the Ford Cab with the cummins engine life would be grand. On a brighter note every time I have to get mom in the truck she mentions how much easier it is to get in than my brothers Chevrolet. If you go for the Dodge I would suggest running boards. They have been priceless.
Good luck on the hunt!
Phil

I have to admit that IF Dodge made a CC,LB we would have bought one in 2008. The CC and LB were things we just had to have in a truck. The truck is not as plush as the other two But I am a fan of the Cummins diesel and IMO is the best Diesel motor on the LT market. It is always give and take.

OK this is the bed I'm looking at for the Dodge 4500 in a 10 foot frame it is low profile and wont interfer with the trailer, the only thing I have to check is CL of wheels to the rear bumper and the center of the Pin on the trailer to the compartment will I have room for the turning radous.

I bought a Dodge Mega Cab in 07, we love the truck and large back seat with plenty of room for large passengers when we have them. I mainly keep the rear seat down when not in use, plenty of storage, and when we hit the road the dogs have plenty of room in the back. I put a sidewinder on the monty to make sure I have plenty of turning radius. I love the truck and set up. The new cummins 6.7 litre is awsome and the standard exhaust brake sure comes in handy. Just my opinion.

OkieGuy's post cheerfully reminded me of the Smother's Brothers, Tommy and Dick! I think Dick drove the Chevy!! Dennis

Take a look at 2008, F250, V10, 410 gears. This is a great truck, and rear hight is not a problem. I tow a 2007 Montana 307RKD.

We backed our 07 ram 3500 right up to our 06 3400rl and had plenty of headroom between bed and camper and it's 4x4, could have been because our hitch was a Reese 20k. I do miss the comfort of our Ford and our friend had a chevy LT3 whose seats were as comfortable as your living room recliner. Since it was just my wife and I and our grandson(4 yr) we chose the quad (5k in the bed and a 12.2 GVW) seemed the Mega fell way short in those #'s and the front seat specs were identical to the quad. IMHO Steve
