Damp carpet
I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I have a Mountaineer 307RKD (rear kitchen). We are getting ready for a short trip next week, and this morning my wife and I were putting supplies in the fiver. She had taken off her shoes, and when walking into the kitchen area, the carpet was damp in an area about 4 X 8 feet. The slides have been in since the last trip. I checked under all the cabinets for plumbing leaks, and under the refrigerator also. All dry. The strange part is, the carpet that is wet is the part that is UNDER the slideout when the slide is in. I went up on the roof and didn't see any problems there, and also checked the bottom of the slideout which was also dry. I am baffled as to where the water came from. Anyone have any ideas of what to check or where the water may have come from. I presently have it opened up to "air out". My idea for now is to let it dry thoroughly, then close it back up. We are expecting rain tonite and tomorrow, so if it gets wet again I will assume it is the slideout and take it back to the dealer. In the meantime, I would appreciate any assistance (even guesses) as to what the problem is. Thanks for indulging the long post.

Dennis, sorry to hear that. Look to see that the little white drain hose from the refrigerator is sticking out in the open. You probably did not have the refrigerator running, but it does need to be out.
I had a leak in the same place, under the refrigerator was wet, also the carpet on the hump; kitchen slide. It was wet under the stove drawer as well.
I think it was wind-blown in through the top, possibly bottom vent. I caulked all around the bottom shelf inside the bottom vent. We didn't have any more wet instances, maybe the caulking worked, maybe the wind just didn't blow the water in.
Good luck with this, maybe others will have more ideas.

Thanks for the reply, Ozz. We had a lot of rain last nite, and the carpet is damp again. The slideout must be leaking in the closed position. My next question is, what about the floor/subfloor under the carpet. My brochure states it has "seamless decking" underneath, but does not specify what kind. Is it the "particle-board" stuff that soaks up water and swells up or what? I am very concerned about this and hope the dealer can handle it properly.

Dennis,
Check the AC unit if over the damp area.
Pull the grill off the AC to see if there is any water droplets there.

When checking the AC with the grill off, there is 3 bolts that hold AC to the roof and in between then is a foam seal which could be bad. Check and tighten down the 3 bolts and see if the takes care of the problem. The seal will become collapsed and possibly leak.
