Maybe downsizing?

We have a 2011 3400rl and have been tossing around the idea of maybe downsizing to a 28-39 foot class c.

We would be trading in or selling the Monty and the 2007 Dodge 3500 Mega cab.

We are looking for a unit that has twin beds.

Have seen a brochure on a RUV but I'm not sure it is big enough.

Has any one had any experience doing this. We talked to a salesman at a RV dealership but he quoted us what we thought was a ridiculously low trade in value.

I never traded for a Class C, but when I traded my 2013 3750 I got about half what I paid

Looked into the MH route before we bought our Monty. Sat in the Drivers seat of a Class C and without even moving said No Thanks. To me I felt I was in a Cave, so if we ever decided to try the MH route it would have to be an A, but for now we've very happy with a 5er.

my buddy did the same thing and downsized and has a Jayco 26 ft class C and likes it and it is nice but Man Driving those things I agree it feels like you are in a coffin down there in the cockpit BUT they are easy to drive around in for sure for shorter trips and around town

Don't get trapped by the salesman's question on what you think your trade's worth. Just say something like, "On paper, I don't care if you add to the value of my rig or prune down what you value your unit at ... I want to trade for this $$$$$ dollar figure." Once you put a value on your fiver, you're stuck dancing to that number.

We had a 31 Class C before the Mountaineer. Never again. The E450 cab is very tight, no wiggle room. The bedroom & bath were ok, but the rest was very uncomfortable. We like our recliners. Driving, you really feel the sway & pull when trucks pass or in wind. Pulling a F/W is much more stable. We towed a Jeep G.C. You can't back up in an emergency with a tow bar w/o causing damage to the dingy. I miss it for short trips, but not extended stays. I don't miss the maintenance.

We took a close look at it and decided the Monty was it for us. We just need the larger more comfortable living space, but then we full time.

Just going to RV shows with friends we always seem to wonder into some larger Class C's. My feeling was always that there just wasn't much room. I suspect when, or if, we would ever decide to slow down our travels and downsize, we would sell the Montana and truck ourselves and then purchase a 26' - 28' light weight TT plus a half ton truck to pull it.
