Jekyll Island
Has anyone been to the Jekyll Island Campground in Ga. The wife and I are thinking of going there in April of 2007. Is it nice at that time of year, any golf etc... Thx Mark

Marc,
I camped at Jekyl Island a few years ago. I remember the campground was heavyly wooded with large oak trees that made an umbrella over the sites. There were more than 20 miles of bike paths, some shopping, beach and there were summer homes and beach cottages that were built by the very rich. I think there were tours to see them. I have a friend that has been there a few times since I went and I will call him and get the info on golfing.

Mark,
My friend reminded me that there were two 18 hole and one 9 hole golf courses at Jeykl Island. The nine hole course is an historical course in that it was the first golf course built in Georgia. There are several more courses on nearby St. Simons Island. Besides driving to St Simons you can take a boat that drops you downtown. People take the evening boat to go over for dinner. You can probably do a Google search and get much more information on campgrounds and state parks also.

Dee, thanks for the response, We are looking forward to going to Jekyll Island next April. The search I did looks great, I just wanted anothers opinion if they have been there. Panama City Beach also looks appealling, any info on that area would be appreciated. Thx to all that will repond.
